Procrastinate: whats your story?
I saw a short video years ago: procrastinating bodybuilding competition: three untrained guys hitting muscle poses; one declared a winner.
Living on this (hobby) farm, what gets done is a matter of: 1. Whats urgent (its on fire? The fire is still small, we got a few minutes or who's coming? When? Oh jeez i gotta few hours yet); 2. What somehow gets to the top of the to do list; or 3. What I LIKE to do (cut the lawn? Why? It'll grow again, i am doing firewood, i like toasty cheeks in winter; you pile a chord and come back next week and its still there; cut the lawn, go for lunch, and it needs to be cut again!
The rest of it gets done on Island time: don'ta worry man, weee'll get to it a sooner or a later. Its only a half broken man, when it breaks completely, den weeee'll fix it.
So I picked up sweet potato shoots in early March, "eggsagerate" was to get some, i'll drop them off soon. Snow is on the ground, we got lots of time. So Carla put the shoots in little pots. The nights still have frost, i'll drop them
Off one of these days. May 31st, they're still here! I'll drop them off today!
Aaahhh my to do list....
What do you put off that'll get done one of these days?

Procrastinate: whats your story?
Hmmm...just about everything! I always procrastinate on evening chores, because often I'm just getting up for the day, being a night worker. It's always "after this cup of coffee", "after I eat something", after I feed the house piglet, after I move the sprinkler, you get the idea. Sometimes it's 3 in the morning before I get out there. I put off fixing the latches on Bacon's pen, even though I know the top one was letting go (and he knew it), until he busted out, so then I had to distract him while I fixed the latches, then lure a (laughing at me) 300 lb boar back to a stall he was CLEARLY enjoying not being in, who was now no longer hungry because of the 'distraction' . Grain wasn't going to cut it, I had to go for cookies. I could have built him a whole new pen in the time it took to fix his gate and get him back in
I procrastinated on getting the garden turned over, because the pto tiller was at Richard's job site and I didn't want to do it with a walk behind...then I procrastinated getting it planted because I worried about frost (even though most of my plants have been outside in the coverall for about 6 weeks, and the brassicas would be fine in any case) sooo, I'm still not done planting the garden. Not by half.
I needed to do some major downsizing in the poultry pens year before last, lots of extra boys to go in the freezer. I did half of it and put the rest off until later...it's not later yet, apparently, because now I have double what I did then :big chicken:
I've procrastinated getting the electric fence up, and Rosie the cow decided the grass was greener on the other side. In the time it took me to get all 10 cows back in, I probably could have fenced off at least one field LOL
I procrastinated changing the front brakes on the truck, and now I have to change both pads and rotors. But luckily I have a parts truck with good brakes. It'll get done. Soon.

Procrastination, I'm terrible for it, and being on forums is a great procrastination enabler. I'm getting worse in my old age too. Kids!!! don't ever pick up that habit!!!!
Ah yes time to order firewood.
Island time? I'm liking that!

Procrastination = divorce.
deal breaker for me. I absolutely hate it.
I will work myself almost dead to get things done. I am also incredibly displined when it comes to deadlines and I'm goal / accomplishment driven. I will fester over things that I haven't had the time to accomplish that day or week and will haul extra hours out of sleep to get them done. Time is always an issue, but it's not procrastination.

It's just a question of how long the list is.
I find it more productive to be able to distinguish between
important and urgent
80% of urgent things are a time waster anyways or follow this motto: "Why does your lack of urgency cause overtime for me?"
So work on important and be more productive.

Yep, from Seven habits of succesful people: take a sheet of paper and draw a line cutting it in 4. Top half urgent, bottom half not, left side important, right side not. Top left urgent & important (the cows got out) top right urgent not important (phone rings: "i am calling about your computer")
