Buckeye Crosses

PS: I've often thought that crossing a Buckeye to an EO ( I call them oily escalators when nobody's listening, how do you pronounce words that are all vowels????) would make a nice friendly cross. Maybe in 2018.

LOL i think they will be very much like stocky badly coloured partridge chanteclers. i think you are right there....
so a what colour do you want your dual purpose pea combed white layer? feather wise?
buff is a tricky colour....but a nice even reddish buff should be very possible...let me think about it a while...not sure if i can get the white layer part, but maybe really really really pale brown...

I was thinking buff or maybe a light New hampshire colour. I'd really really like Pumpkin Hulsey orange, if it's possible. The barred hollands are supposedly contributing the white eggshells....... but I don't want a barred breed, so that will be easy to get rid of if I get any hens. If I only got roosters, I'm going to be a bit sour. But i think I may have three hens. Hopefully they lay white eggs.
I like the colour of my Cornish eggs, the ones I have are a very very pale pink, almost white. The eggshell colour goes all the way through to the inside, so they are a true pink egg.
The breeds I want to include are Buckeye, Dark Cornish, and Barred Holland, but I don't mind adding some sex link or buff rock genes. I'm more after a landrace than a breed........... really the only requirements are good temperament, pea comb and white eggshell. Kind of lazy here!
Oh yeah there are some no-nos- no naked necks, no feathered feet, no white skin, no muffs beards or head ornaments other than a pea comb. And, if I can get the pearl eyes.......... that would be cool.
There's supposedly a cross to Ancona in there too, but I didn't get any this year, Next year's project.

Found this link Robbie on how to say Euskal Oiloa (EO) lol. I have heard it said in Spanish and it sounds similar but rolls off the Spanish tongue as Ew-skal ol-youa???

Those crosses are gorgeous, I love the patterning, and they look like hefty, chunky chicks!
