Ever hear of this????
Yesterday a chick hatched and was healthy etc. The problem was when I picked it up I see that not all the guts went back inside. I don't know if it's intestines or the yolk sac but something is hanging out of the butt. I tried to gently push it in with a wet q-tip but no go. Any idea what this is, has anyone dealt with this? I am hoping it will go in on its own but probably won't happen. I am ready to put it down so that it won't suffer. Of course this is one of my better bred chicks, ugh!

If it's at the butt end, it might just be a bit of egg- white remnant, it's sometime still attached, especially if the chicks were a bit on the wet side when hatched, wait a bit, it will probably just fall off.

Leave it a couple of days its probably either the vein that connects the egg to yolk sac or a small yolk sac hernia from hatching a bit too soon. Make sure its not pecked by anyone else nd that its not bleeding any. All going well it will pull in by itself in a couple of days. Its actually quite common.
