Found this little guy in with my standard cochins this morning, it either had a rough night and trying to sleep it off or found my bait station

Yeah, those brown rats can get really big if they have a readily available food source - like chicken layer feed. Shudder!
I had to remove one just like that a few winters back.

I kid you not I honestly thought it was a kitten, we are starting to get a bit of a feral cat problem around here, my neighbour is a large animal vet and if he can trap them (literally has a dozen live traps around his the yard) he fixes them and relocates them to farms in need

I just came in from a calf check, and watched at least (and heard) 10 running around. I hate them!

Got 2 feral cats this spring from a rescue and rehome group. Been picking up bits of rat remains ever since. Totally hate rats. Those two kitties earn their kibble.

CRAGGIE!!!!! That's a BIG rat (*O*)
With our 1st batch of chickens, I saw a rat running around.
We set a rat trap...next morning I went to do my chores @ 6am.
I saw the rat, with the trap Still attached, hiding underneath the wall!!!
I thought of stabbing it with a shovel, but worried if I only injured it.
( & then if it escaped it would be in pain - NOT good )
Hubby was NOT feeling the luv when I woke him to get the rat.
It was HUGE & way bigger than the Pet rat hubby had in our teens.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I heard that cats don't bother rats because a rat has a foul tasting nose?
They only bother them if they can catch them by the body.
Anyone hear of that?

Wait... you mean those are not kittens??? I have been feeding those for years!!! Lol, no just kidding. I guess that is one of the good things about being in a high predator area, any source of food draws an army of teeth so we have been lucky to never had a rat problem.
