Thanks, Baron! The prices for Embdens are really good, and they're fairly close. Maybe I will try a handful next year, though it's my general practice not to buy birds from people that couldn't be bothered to spell breed names correctly.

Couvoir Simetin is another hatchery but no listing on geese. their business seems to be ducks for fois gras.

I purchased my French Guinea keets from Elevages Carfio last year, good healthy birds. Planning on getting some more guineas and some chukar partridge this year.

Picked up my order this morning. They were unable to give me any of the rose comb brown leghorns I ordered and could only give me 8 of the 10 mottled javas I ordered. When I got home and unpacked the boxes I was short 1 Delaware chick...oh well. The chicks are lively and look healthy thus far, what a beautiful place they have there!

I got my chicks from Performance today too. I got all the breeds I wanted, the chicks look vigorous and happy but almost all had pasty butts. All but the buff rocks and boy are they a suprise! Huge chicks, even though they are pullets, and high energy. I got dark cornish, barred holland and buff rocks. The barred hollands are the smallest and weakest of the chicks but they seem to be holding their own. I'll have to take a photo of the head spots so you can tell me how many pullets I have, they only had straight run so I got 10. My husband was down in the County today anyway so it worked out perfectly for him to pick them up. He's such a sweetie, he turned the heat way up in the van and drove home shirtless :-)
Pictures to follow.

Pictures of the new chicks, not pictures of your shirtless hubby, right? ;-) Looking forward to pics of new chicks. :-)
I've heard anecdotal evidence that putting a little ACV with the mother in their water helps with pasty butt. No idea if there's anything to that, since I haven't had any experience with pasty butt chicks.
ETA: P.S. Kudos to your hubby for going above and beyond.
