Hen or Roo?

Post by Flat Rock Farm » Tue Apr 26, 2016 7:08 am

KB I personally breed for temperament with my EO's. Being a naturally friendly breed, if I get a nasty boy (and I have had about 4) in the 6 going on 7 years I have been breeding. I do not use them for breeding, they go in the freezer.

I still never turn my back on any rooster.............

I would never turn my back on Lucky either. He's a great boy but very serious about his ladies who adore him! He's a prime male bird and he does his job! With the other roosters I had (brothers) they were nice to people but first idea I got was the hens got scared of them - one even attacked broody Mama with her babies. He went away at once!

And on the other end of the spectrum, grandson of Lucky at 10 month can spot me two fences over and paces the fence line whining to get my attention, completely ignoring his hens.
I tel you, if it's not one thing, it's another . :)
