Baby turtles already

I sure hope we have turtles in our pond again, but I have a feeling they may have evacuated last year, due to a muskrat invading our pond. It got the 10 wild blue teal baby ducklings that the mother had hatched in there last year. I felt so bad and the mother was so upset. We use to have a lot of swallows. We had the barn and bank swallows, but for some reason they disappeared a couple years ago. It is such a bummer, as they would be all over the pond eating mosquitos. I sure miss them and hope that they will come back.

It wasn't a muskrat. A muskrat is a vegetarian. It must have been an otter.

A friend informed me last year that he thought it strange that a muskrat would be in our pond, as he said that they don't usually live in standing water and are not usually out in the day. This thing chases all the wild ducks out of the pond. I saw turtles leave too. It has trenches on the side of the pond that come into our garden. My husband has gone through some of them when he has been walking in it. I watched them in the day swim across the pond and swim back with lots of green grass/weeds in their mouth to bring back to their home for the babies. How do we get rid of them? Anything that will deter them?

Bang , bang ...but as said vegetarians. Alligators are there main enemy in Florida . You might have snapping turtles eating the ducks . Luck

On Wikipedia its says that they are omnivorous. They will eat frogs baby turtles and ducklings etc. We have painted turtles or should I say that we had and we don't have any guns. I do believe we have muskrats and not otters. One thing good about them is that they eat the cattails in the pond, but that is the only thing good about them. I sure don't like that they are so territorial chasing and getting rid of all our "wonders of nature" out of the pond. They are a pain!!!
