K, so pls don't get your feathers ruffled at my question: are these heritage lines? Like true? Or excellent gene guality? The whole heritage has me cringe since I saw some blue rocks that basically aren't rocks, just looking like a rock and we throw heritage in there because, well, I'll leave that alone. I know chickens don't have pedigrees ... I get that. I've been reminded a million times of that, but that word, heritage, implies exactly that, heritage.

try reloading your page sandy...they show up on all our devices (tablet, phone and computers)...so no reason you shouldn't see them.....

These are 2 of my heritage RIR chicks, one on top of the feeder (of course, no better place for a chick) and one looking to the left on the left side (the others are cornish, wheaten ameraucana and turkey poults).....look a lot like Als

mine are on the e-wheaten background (as are Al's). I love the burnt orangy colour of the heritage lines-i find the production just doesn't have the rich burnt orange.

Oh ya Sandy these are heritage birds. I stopped using the term because of how much the term is improperly used. in order to be heritage birds they have to conform to the SOP and meet all the original production quotas for the breed.

I havent shown yet because in my mind I havent produced a perfect bird. Now I promised to show last January but couldnt because of the move and all plus I didnt have any worthy birds. life was to crazy. I will be showing my first APA show at the upcoming show in Sarnia next Jan/Feb. and Im pretty excited about that!

I purchased these birds from Stephane at English River Poultry out of Quebec. and he got his original birds from top breeders out of the US. 2 bloodlines were used but one was added in later so one bloodline is a bit more dominant than the other. I may have one of his original hens!!!!!!!

LOL-i should probably stop using it too....i use it to differentiate between the production RIRs and the non-production RIRs, at least in this context. I'm not sure how well mine conform to SOP, they're fairly close, i would say my biggest fault is the colour on the girls. but i've only had the one really good coloured boy for 1 generation, and am trying to improve the girl's colour.

LOL ya how loosely the heritage term is thrown around especially on facebook and applied towards backyard crosses was so frustrating and im sure apart of the reason why I was reported to fb for not using m real name. LOL. So im really happy I dont have to see that crap anymore haha.

At least your breeding to the heritage quality Kathy, your using the term properly. when I read how the Livestock Conservancy labled the Rhode Island Red - Non Industrial I thought, Perfect, I like that!
