Cockfighting Arrests and Investigation

Post by BobG » Mon Apr 11, 2016 11:52 am

Bayvista ,My point is that the birds are bred only for fighting . the bloodlines are not let out to non fighters . It is a very secretive group . The young cockerels are housed separately from the age of 4 to 5 months as they will kill each other . The price of breeding trios is anywhere from 500 to 2500 dollars depending on the reputation of the bloodlines . A single mature cock bred for the pit sells for about 200 dollars ,you would not find any breeder of gamefowl selling on Kijji .

What breed did he buy , I can tell you that it did not go for fighting . It may be used as a broody to raise young stock.

Nope......ah well, they wouldn't have made good fighters, well, maybe love the other cockerel to death....or something. hopefully it was some guy with the same name. some people...i don't know how people enjoy watching (or participating in) dog fights or this kind of thing. it's sick. and a bit sadistic i think....not to mention cruel, inhumane, i can think of so many other words to call it....sigh.

BobG is correct none of the heritage breeds would be suitable for cockfighting they are too much of a wosse, these are game birds bred just for that. Look it up on the internet, there are lots of videos on it, how to train them what lines are best etc. Yeah hard to believe some of the ages of them, shocking it exists in Canada!

I'd like to believe that people who breed animals to deliberately maim each other for the fun of spectators, are a different kind of people...but they're not. Poultry keepers, no matter their ilk, rarely keep only one breed for a single purpose. I don't imagine cockfighting keepers and afficionados are any different, and quite frankly I would not knowingly hand over any animal to such a person, for any reason. The history of cockfighting is fascinating, but history is where I feel it belongs.

What the heck??? Was it "off the meds" day at the seniors home or something? Could they not find something else to gamble on!
