the bator says 1588 and it doesn't have a turny thing....it has little toggles in a box labeled 1-8. the third one is on....the bator has a little note sheet from the manufacturer that says to trust the heat setting of the bator, but I have 3 thermometers inside and they all read 110

Fun morning but ILT vaxx (non-shedding) all done now. Turkeys sure give you a morning workout when you need to catch them, so strong. Funnily the Toms are easy to do the hens didn't get the memo that it's for their own good. All the chickens done as well including the ones that were too young the in the autumn. Hubby says you need 2 people to do it, one to catch and one to do first aid on the catcher. And there's always the little turkey hen #2 who you just pick up and cuddle a bit, so placid. Need to shower now 'cos I smell funny!

i have the user manual for that incubator at home. there is a reset, but i can't remember which one.....i can check later

holy snow. holy moly. NOT impressed. and FOG this morning. none of the birds were happy, nor the horses. mine are like yours farrier-stay out in all weather. i used to worry, now i don't usually, but i was worried yesterday. rain and freezing rain and they were soaked through and the temps dove to -5 and windchill of -12. kept checking on shivering, but didn't see any, but man did we go through hay yesterday! like it was going out of style! they are fine this morning....soaked, but at least it's 5C now, so they'll dry off. they did spend a lot of time yesterday IN the barn, abnormal for them. sucks the eggs didn't hatch....sigh.

my turkey is still sitting. my sportsman is full of turkey pips this morning. :-)
Good luck today on the first day Al!
alright. hopefully spring will beat up old man winter now and we can move on with tilling the garden and doing fencing and stuff.....hope everyone has a great day!

I had a fit a few minutes ago... was laying all the government crap from FCC loans... and t-4's from jobs... and interest stuff from implement companies, when I realized that Gary's t-4 wasn't where I thought I'd put it. I did find it tho, it was still in its envelope, upstairs by the computer used for bookkeeping, but I thought it was his last UI thing.. when he was laid off last spring, lol.

Whew.

I think I'm ready. I hope. Fingers crossed that we don't have to pay income tax. I had to spend abit of money last fall to ensure that, but didn't have enough CASH in the account to make the rent payments on some land, so I GAVE a whopping amount to the fertilizer company late enough in Dec. that I didn't have to pay that until end of January, when it was safe to sell some more crop in storage. Technically it WAS a 2015 purchase.

Hes always late. Supposed to be here at 10am. Hubby has an eye appointment because he can't see (old), and I made a Dr. appointment for him for his throat for just before that. Both in town, same town.. he may have to go to Timmies and get a coffee, lol.

This weather sucks. Snow all over the ground... raining.. slush on some roads... but the outlook for next weekend looks fantastic!! Need the weather to dry up, because calving is imminent. NOT looking forward to that this year. I said that last year too.

We need a new bull also, Hay. Looking to go back to Angus.... preferably a 2.5-3 year old. Bulls get so big so fast.

We started calving this week, today was the third born to the first timers....and she had no trouble....spit it right out and it was born and up looking for its first meal within an hour. Really happy so far with the black dexter bull's calf size and vitality right after birth on these first time fullblood piedmontese heifers. All 3 so far were born quickly....and I'm talking in minutes instead of hours ...and were up and nursing within an hour of birth....
The two chicks that hatched are bopping around in the bator and I just saw another pip...a Swedish flower egg/green egger roo. I have the other new (to me) bator plugged in...its holding at 100* this one has a box inside beside the heating element too with little toggle switches, hoping to get one of them to settle so I can get another batch of eggs started. Grandchildren are anxiously awaiting chicks, they are coming over tonight while DD and her hubby castrate some x-bred feeder bulls so they will have fun with the seven hatched last week, they have tripled in size and stand up and pick fights....so cute!

I will photo the manual as soon i get home for you hayladee...the different toggle switches are different temps...you turn the one on that makes it 100F in your room....and there's a reset switch on one of them too.

In order top to bottom. Hopefully you can zoom in on them. The last one has info on the toggle switches.
