Just getting into the air pellet stuff my self baron & the more I delve the more confusing that's one reason I joined up with these pigeon hunting group . Hoping to learn from the experience of them . Can't believe prices on these things as you go up in fps plus types , pumps , cartridge , compressed air etc etc . I have a cartridge pistol for short barn shots . Been told & experienced that if under 500 fps to use .177 for better kill shot . Luck

im really not sure myself what make is in the 22lr pouch. id have to look when I get home. I know one brand I have was prone to jamming so I stopped using them. the 22 I use is a remington 597 but I have an older Mossberg lakefield that I learned to shoot with as a kid. it jams up all the time now no matter what iv tried, iv been told its the magazine and things to do with it to improve it but nothing has worked, I think both mags I have are just tired, they must be 40+ years old at least. I love that gun and want to fix it, one day I will.

ill get back at you but to be honest im not very knowledgeable on this subject.

As far as .22 I use a .22lr hollow point on a scoped 10 shot clip in a Cooey Lakefield bolt action bought in the 60 's . Works well on racoon , dirt hogs & rabbit . Properly placed & proper distance works on yotes & fox too .

The most common bullets on store shelves are Winchester SuperX LR (i have little experience with these) and Remington Yellow Jacket hollow point and I've found these great for groundhogs, very accurate. I've probably only shot two boxes of 50 in the last 20 years. Never needed more than 2 shots. I shot 22 groundhogs in 1998 (one place was infested and we made hay there).

For awhile this past year .22 shells have been hard to find . Yotes have pretty well wiped out dirt hogs in this area & others in Ont .

Baron heres what I have... the winchesters were the ones always jamming... crap. the blazers are the ones I use and I noticed they use the same casing as the cci's, and are made by cci, both 40grain 1235 fps, the cci's are copper plated. iv never had a blazer jam or miss the target. the imperials well iv never shot them. oh also with the winchesters iv seen the casing come apart and almost back fire... dangerous. wish i could just dispose of them.

Well, its snowing again, and Gary was leaving, as soon as I got in from the bus. We have so much snow already!! The laneway has two passes in it, sides frozen... and a pile of snow in the middle... that the durango has leveled out, because the drifts were so high. Course, with all the tractor tracks and other vehicles thru the snow.... they are now frozen, and really pleasant to drive over.

And, rain this afternoon, after the snow.

Well, I got my incubator back from Berryhill. They told me nothing was wrong with it. After they told me in an earlier conversation that they changed the thermostat. Which is bull poop... because I plugged it in at 4pm, and at 7:30pm, I checked, and the reading is 68.9F. I unplugged it, and left it on over night. Still 68.9F and when I open it, its cool... and the fan blows cold air. The light is NOT on, for heat. Comes on at plug in, and goes right out, and doesn't come back on.

WTH!! I had to pay shipping back, because according to them, theres nothing wrong with it. When they said it was going to be delivered yesterday, I had my eggs warming by the woodstove. They are back in the 55F room, on the turner. Those eggs must be crap now. Getting older by the day. They've been warmed twice now.... the first time before they went in all night, when I first discovered it wasn't working a week ago.

FED UP! I left them a message... but heard nothing so far. Of course. It sounds like its working over there.... intermittent noises, like its 'working'... but nothing happening inside.

Do you just plug in these things and go? Or is there something I am MISSING?????? like a switch somewhere? Don't remember doing anything the first and only time I used it last July. :dunno:

BVF... Nope they are as simple as possible. No switches. Plug and play.

They are just plug in and go. it sounds like it needs a thermostat or a new control center. usually they're really good.....only thing i could think of is a different outlet in case your voltage is down in that one, but you did that last night. they should just be plug in and set temp and go. and they're preset for 100F. there's no switch on the genesis, and to reset you unplug for 10 minutes and plug back in....
i have one that i'm not using right now....you are welcome to borrow it....did you make sure the set temp is 100F (or whatever that is in C)? that's the only other thing i can think of, but it should be preset. i'm so sorry you are having these problems berryhill has always been phenomenal for me....

hubby helped me set up the sportsman incubator and hatcher last night. one of those jobs that was a "but first" job. i had gotten the table to the front room, and unpacked the incubator and hatcher, and had everything ready to go, but....the table is really old and the wood is turning brittle, and well, it needed fixing before putting the incubators on it. have to find the drill to fix the table. have to find the drill bits and screws....then fix the table, thankfully martin is handy with stuff like that. they were running perfectly this morning. nice and quiet and 50% humidity, and i will probably be setting eggs tonight-although i have to make sure i'm going to be around the few days around the hatch.

2 fuzzies in the incubator this morning. 2 cornish chicks. and another 5 or so pipped. they sure take their sweet time in hatching. turning the hatch down 1 degree really helps for those cornish :-) i'll try and get photos later on of all the fuzzybutts
Have a great day everyone!
