It's SO Warm that......

Post by Ontario Chick » Thu Dec 17, 2015 2:04 pm

take on CBC call in program,
Finish the sentence, It's so warm that.......
Was piling some leaves this morning and found 2" new shoots on the Day Lilly clumps, so covered them up again, but that's not a good thing.
Forsythia and Lilac are opening some leaf buds and squirrels are systematically denuding some decorative shrub buds.
Wild turkeys are scratching the forest floor to smithereens, never saw that before. :?

The pussy willow is budding and the butternuts were developing leaf buds.

I havent ran the furnace yet this year!

I am seriously concerned for all forms of wild life, especially the mosquitoes, why do i care about the mosquitoes you ask? because every single species of fish rely on them as young fry. and I rely on the fish for entertainment/food on the table. But man Id seriously hate to see the trees/plants whatever start to think its spring then get hit by winter. it wont kill them but it wont do them any good either!

Yes some of my scrubs are budding and some bulbs are shooting up, we do need some colder weather or they are going to get hit big when it does in January. Also wonder if this isn't why we are seeing a rise in rabies this year.

The bees where flying again today. They have been flying almost every day so far this "winter". Funny enough I have some dandelions blooming. Not enough to feed the bees but funny to see bees and dandelions in December.

...A hornet flew in the house today, and my old turkey girl, Lacy, is yelping for a tom, and her favourite tom is in the next pen over, displaying for all he's worth. I now have TWO geese laying eggs, as well as two ducks, and NOW, two muscovies have started again. Chickens are still on strike though :/
