Good Morning!

Hard to keep a good Tom down! Sounds like he's a tough old bird!!
My main Tom got the heck beaten out of him by his son a few months ago and looked miserable for a few days but was back in form not too long after...glad he's better!

LOL. it is, in fact, the 2nd. sigh. And there are snowflakes the size of snowballs falling off and on outside my window.

good news is both the cornish chicks and all the turkey poults in the brooder have all figured out how to eat and drink, and are nice and toasty warm and happy! yay! still need to check on the poults in the barn, they got a heat lamp yesterday in preparation for -11 tomorrow night....
tried to let the girls out today, and they have had nothing to do with it. so. they can stay in....its getting a bit windy, so better to keep them warm and toasty in the coop. and i don't blame them. i have this urge to stay home too inside, in front of the fireplace. LOL
hope everyone has a great day!

Sandy- The Cornish crosses are bred for size, not much else. However, I have always grown mine outside on pasture from 4 weeks on, and finished them on grain the last 2 to 3 weeks and they have always done fabulous and stayed happy and healthy throughout. Feeding them 2x per day gets them hungry and moving around more. Or else they would be literally laying around with their heads in a feed dish all day. Mine actually scratch for bugs and eat green stuff off the ground. I move them to fresh grass 4x per day and they stay clean from their poop and fertilize my grass well. Everyone is happy.
They are much happier outside than in.
