Good Morning!

Frankenchickens do smell different because of an increased urea (nitrogen) in the feces. Even cornish smell different-not as bad as frankenchickens but i can tell them apart from my heritage breeds because the poop smells different. Frankenchickens have way fewer feathers. Its how they have been bred. Those ones actually dont look as bad as some....

Get in touch with Andy - thejones boy - he had some good frankens last year. You can free range them apparently and limit food.

Well I feel a bit better knowing that. I couldn't understand why they smelt SOOOO bad but in reality were clean birds. The lack of feathers looks more disturbing than it probably is, but it doesn't make it any easier to look at knowing that unfortuntaely.

Their legs were massive stocky stumps. A lot looked pigeon toed.

More good news. Stephen came out of the coop and started displaying to his ladies! A bit drunken looking but much improved.
