Good Morning!
I swear they didn't go off yesterday and same as when I was at Doug's. The turkeys were much more chatty yesterday then the guineas. They kept their distance at Doug's but no alarms or major ruckus.
That's what I'm thinking Kenya. I don't need 50 but maybe a trio or a dozen out free ranging :) . I've already taken ticks out of one cat and Drake (dog). Its March.

Good Morning!
They sure carried on when I was there on Saturday!!! LolSandyM wrote:QR_BBPOST Ok, I'd like to also make note that while I was at Shirley's (BVF) yesterday and previously at Doug The Chicken Mans those guinea fowls have not been screaming like everyone has warned me. I even talked to the ones at Shirley's and they didn't make a scene. Are y'all fibbing to me?![]()
So when I left Shirley's yesterday I put them back on my serious consideration list.
Biggest reason I don't want them again
They did bring a good buck at Woodstock Friday nite sale. $18.00 each!!!

Shirley. Do they flap off like that every time you go to barn? Or is it mostly with strangers
Been a long time since I've had them so I don't really remember. Plus ours were strictly free range

Good Morning!
Free range but did the return to a coop at night? I also read if raised with chickens they have a tendency to be more calm.Colleen Kinzie wrote:QR_BBPOSTJust wonderingWLLady wrote:QR_BBPOST Might have been me colleen. Good Morning!
i raised mine with chickens. they started killing the chickens on the bottom of the totem pole. i ended up having to separate them. and then i just got rid of them completely. they NEVER shut up.....the horse would walk by and the world was ending. i would come out of the house (and they knew me) and the world was ending. the dog came out and the world was ending. the other dog came out and wow the world must have ended with that rukus. good thing was the coyotes were told....as were the sparrows. and the starlings. and the skunks. and the bunnies. and the neighbours. and the hydro one guys. it got to the point where if ANYONE came to visit we had to talk in the house because the things would bark at us and then follow us around! the ONLY time they were quiet was if they were in the pitch black at night and the motion light was off. but if it was raining, or the light came on, or windy....they made noise at night too. not quite as much...but enough that i couldn't sleep. so i sold them all. the only thing is they tasted great in the oven (like pheasant) and they got good money at the auction.
