I see bare butt at the auction often. I' e been told it's from laying every day and cleaning their vent area.

Keep us posted

What breed are they, Tom? Have they been laying a lot?
What Ross and Sandy said makes sense to me: I have seen some flocks of Frey's layers that have a good number of bald butts, and they are bred for pumping out the eggs.

Sounds like your girls may need a holiday Tom, I remember how happy you were with all the eggs you were getting, time to send the girls to Florida for March break. ;)
No wonder I haven't seen this problem, I only have dual purpose breeds, and they take a holiday whenever the spirit moves them. :)
