So....first four hatched just fine, then two more pipped and zipped and hatched....then there was a pip and the two chicks that hatched first would not leave that egg alone..so I opened the lid! I made a blanket tent over my head and covered the incubator and grabbed the two
disturbers. I knew there was maybe one or two of the other eggs that still could hatch but I took the risk. The egg they were messing around with and unzipping for the poor little guy in it was a mess! The yolk had not fully been absorbed yet and was oozing out, I didn't hold much hope at this point. However, the little slime ball (nothing fuzzy about it) hatched. It's navel was still open and it was still attached to the bottom 1/3 of the shell, it looked disgusting, anyway I left everything alone for about 12 hours and when the remaining shell fell off I snatched him/her out of the incubator (opened the lid again) and wrapped him in a hot wet paper towel and let him/her soak a bit and then took a soft bristle toothbrush and gentle massaged him to get rid of some goo. Last night he was semi fluffy! So I moved all the remaining chicks from the incubator to the brooder. I just gave him/her another spa treatment and the navel is now almost completely closed! so fingers crossed that the wee thing makes it. In all I set 17 eggs, chucked one unfertilized one at lock down (should have chucked a bunch more but didn't trust myself) I have 7 little chicks and when I took the eggs that were left out and cracked them 7 more were complete duds and one looked like maybe it went about a 4-5 days and the last had an almost perfect little chick in it but maybe died about 5 days ago. So I can live with opening the incubator. I will post pictures of the 7 when Wee Thing dries off.

Very cute! I usually put newspaper or a blanket over the window so the chicks that are out don't peck at the ones trying to hatch or just newly hatched. Works great.
