Good Morning!

Post by WLLady » Thu Mar 10, 2016 10:14 pm

Glad you made it home safe baronrenfrew! :racer: It was really good to meet you! even though it was :rain: on us...too bad it was so foggy all the way back. So our first annual PikNik sounds like there's going to be a whole lot of sandals, shorts, t-shirts, scruffy guys, and gals without makeup. sounds like my kind of party! LOL. I am SOOOO going to try to make it....the new MRI results came in today, it hasn't fixed itself but thankfully it hasn't gotten worse so hopefully i'll hear about next appointment dates soon....i hope! then i can PLAN!
although, i am so very evil to myself. i have a few turkey eggs at day 7 almost 8 in the incubator, so i just added 22 cornish eggs....and a few leghorns and a few ees for good measure. okay okay, i fired up the second incubator....well, they didn't all fit in one! i am going to try dropping the temp on the cornish along with the turkeys during lockdown. at least if the turkeys hatch and some chickens hatch maybe the chickens can gang up on the turkeys and teach them something. they really are dumb as posts....i hatched out another 3 turkey poults on the weekend, 2 royal palms and 1 bronze x red slate (and i think it's going to be a red slate from the markings!)...and put them with the other turkey poults, and guess who are eating and drinking and trying to fly already??! :turkey: AND that 1c makes a huge difference! everything did great, and then the cat slept on the incubator and blocked the air, so 3 hatched, and 2 pipped and didn't make it, and another one didn't internally pip and the last arrested sometime around day 12 as far as i can tell. so. this time i have blocked the incubators off so she can't get up there (badcat), and hopefully fingers crossed..... :xfingers:
alright. tomorrow will be panic day to submit this grant...so i'll wish you all a good friday and weekend now, and hopefully i'll get online again tomorrow after it's all over (it's due by 11pm, i sure hope to get it sent before then!).

baronrenfrew wrote:QR_BBPOST Well home now, quick stops with wpcowgirl and Tomk. All rain and fog, had to drive slower than i normally would have, plus somehow my sis and I managed 10 hours together in a tight space. She bossed me around as a kid, i don't put up with that now. Will someone tell the Town of Trenton they need road signs...Had me cursing navigating there. So I gotta fire up the bator tomorrow. Yep, good old chicken math...

And it was a great pleasure to meet you all...I look forward to a more leisurely meeting and me not in my "travel clothes" (t-shirt n jogging pants w old shoes..And sometimes I shave :farmer:)

Somehow just as I pictured you ;)

Good Morning!

Morning

Well, looks like all my complaining about no broodies is paying off. Another girl is set on her eggs. :broodyhen: I actually squeezed a few EE eggs under her as well (3) and she scooped them under like she was a vacuum. This is the one that has been puffing up at me the last few days when you go in HER coop. Boy they're Grouchy when they're sitting. So that's it for a while!! No more for now. please.

Attempted hawk attack this morning. The polygamist kicked butt again! It's actually impressive how much screeching he does, how big his wing span (rooster) is and his leap Spurs first at the hawk. One girl ended up so spooked she was in a tree. I left her for 30 mins and she did a whole load of complaining. I got the ladder to try and get her, of course it's a pine tree and I'm swearing at every single prick as I'm trying to get up to get her. I'm covered in carbaryl because I was in the middle of dusting... I'm within reach, she flies down, flies into the deck railing and hits the ground. Shakes off, looks around to see if anyone notices and carries on. With a limp. Ugh! I can't get her unless I chase her so she's free for today. Tomorrow she's in lockdown so I can see the extent of the limping.

Hunters Ed Sunday. Restricted Monday. I need to inquire as I still haven't gotten any of my PAL paperwork so I have to dig into that.

The amphibians are awake!! They are definitely making noise today. Sun is out, it's warmer, although I had to put the fire on to take the cold snap out of the house. I draw the line at 61 degrees.

Found the 'wire guy' on the PTO Facebook page, or was it Al's page? Pretty excited about that connection!!

Have a good day everyone.

Isn't it awesome when the boys do their job like that! Extra treats for him. Might want to leave the hurt hen for a couple of days rather than stress her more.

It's so amazing how he knows. He sounds the alarm and they run for cover. One girl decided to run from under deck to the pen, but I had it locked cause I had the last of them u was dusting, then in her way back to under the deck the hawk swooned in and she took off into the tree.
Meal worms for all, but he never has any, always makes sure his girls gets them. Not like they leave any for him. Jeesh. Even I leave Lou a few kernels of popcorn. Hahaha
She actually is in the muddy swamp foraging with the rest. She seems fine. For now.
