Good Morning!

Post by WLLady » Wed Sep 14, 2016 12:43 pm

Thanks guys! i am a member of OOD as well, haven't been on the site for a while.....
There's a new archery store (antler river archery) opening soon in delaware too! can't wait! i drive by the place every day and keep checking to see if they are open yet. LOL.
For now i probably won't be hunting alone anyways-had a close call with some coyotes last year following me out of the bush, so I think martin and i will be hunting together anyways, so if none of your suggestions pan out he should be able to pull mine for me....i still have to get a rest installed in the stand-and see if i can actually climb up the stand and get sat down LOL.
Maybe some evening this week when it's not raining.

Good morning!! Its a coolish one out there.

Had a small fit... anyone who knows me KNOWS it really isn't small at all.... when we tried to put an old cow in... shes the 17 year old, with a sore foot. Shes been really going downhill... not competing at all with trying to get feed, so of course, she didn't want to go inside the barn. Right at the damn door.... but not having anything at all to do with it. And, once they go thru the shovel at the face... well, your beat.

So... tempting with grain the millionth time did the trick. I went to the house to get bleach/syringe/tags/and other bull poop, and came back down to deal.

I told Gary to put a halter on her..... (shes in the headgate stall) to hold/tie her head so I could get 3 huge aspirins down her throat was a circus. First two halters... nose pieces broken... (been hanging on a nail for freaking ever), I made a huge show of throwing those out... and the rope halter has been frigged around with, so that the smartest person in the world could never figure it out. So, it went flying thru the barn too.

Finally got another rope one on... and then of course, she clamps her teeth shut... I'm trying to screw the bolus gun into her mouth... and then realized I was under her tongue.....OMG. Finally got those down her, and then hosed out between her toes with the hose, until it was nice and clean. Then I syringed lots of bleach water into her crack. Sounds good doesn't it? Thru the crack between her toes. Did that forwards and backwards. Then waited for it to dry somewhat, and put a RFID tag in her ear. Shes going come fall. For sure. Asked the BOSS whether he wanted to needle her ONCE with a long acting antibiotic THAT WOULD BE HUGE EXPENSIVE...or get something to needle her with twice a day for a few days.

Well.... needled her with what we had.... a drug that cost $388 for a 50ml bottle.... and gave her 21ml. Ouch.

Then we proceeded to go find her calf. Looked and looked for number 218. Of course, a couple lost their tags. We decided on one, that had to be it... because it was a steer calf. And the right colour. Took forever to get that one separated and out and once we let her out of the headgate, she thought she would body slam it. Ok then. Not hers.

GAWD, so go outside for the 3rd time, and finally found the right calf, with its tag... amongst all the cows... and calves that were NOT inside the barn. We got it in with mom, and everyone is happy. The cow is in a nice clean bedded pen, and was actually chewing her cud when I left. When she was outside, her neck/face was outstretched with her eyes squinted... and you just KNEW she was in extreme pain.

Went and did chicken chores/stuff... and blew a gasket again, when I started pressure washing the lawnmower from yesterday, and its a run down PIECE OF CRAP, that won't clean a damn thing. You can hold it with one arm... the pressure sucks BAD anymore. I told him I was buying a new pressure washer tomorrow at the farm show, and was going to spend as much as $10,000 on new one if necessary. He asked me if I was signing the cheque. Of course... I have signing authority.... he knows that.... then he asked if I was going to deposit money into the account.

VERY F'IN FUNNY.

I came inside, and started cleaning the damn house, seeing as how I have to let the stupid lawnmower soak for a day, to get the stuff off from under the deck. Kitchen looks good anyhow.

More rants later... I'm sure.

Just say this post. Baron I sent you, WWW and BVF a pm about the turkeys, not sure if you are planning on being in BVF's area, near Hamilton during your trip.

You know with all the kids in school all day I thought my house would be cleaner lol. We keep getting distracted by projects outside ( like chickens, turkeys and gardens)!! At least we are going to eat this winter (as long as I wash the dishes *smile*)Oh well, the mess will still be there when we find the time, right? Looking forward to our visit today!!!
