not quite morning any more....not by a long shot. oh well. Got my second vaccination this morning! yay! So in 10 days or so I will be waiting eagerly for the ontario government to relax the masking rule. I'm so so sick and tired of masks every single day. Had a couple days last week where the AC at work was acting up. nothing like sitting working in jeans, tshirt, shoes, lab coat, gloves, mask AND a faceshield. at 32C. INSIDE. with no breeze. fun. NOT. one bonus was I didn't need to fire up the incubator for the enzyme digests....they need 30C....and well, i just left them on the bench for an hour. Finally on vacation for a couple weeks though. it's nice. i see people at work have already taken over my shifts, so now even if i get called in we'd be over occupancy, oops, sorry! haha
The garden has absolutely exploded in this weather. the 4 inches of rain, and then heat.....the zucchini and summer squash are up to my waist! the potatoes are flowering almost 3 feet up! the wasps are incredible....holy crap wasps. I can root through 4 beehives and even mistakenly thump a frame (didn't drop it somehow....) and not get stung, but drive the lawnmower around a fruit tree and come out with some bastard wasp sting....gah! honestly the sting is bugging me more than the vaccine....haha. (so far anyways).
Really should go and do some weeding. Should have some beans soon, the peas have pods...but not filled yet. Corn is up about 3.5 feet already, i swear i can hear it growin! Already had summer squash and zucchini, cucumbers and tons of lettuce from the garden. the lilies are in full bloom-day lilies are about 4 weeks early this year. and they're all open. i still have a few perennials i started (coneflowers and lilies) that need planting. a little behind on those. the flowers are all waiting on bees LOL. the garden is positively crawling in honeybees and other mason bees. i have about 5 mason bee hives and we now have 4 beehives all splits or swarms from our 1 hive this spring. been crazy. and all are doing amazing. Now, if i could get rid of these darned yellow jackets. argh! I have about 5 wasp traps set up and am emptying them multiple times a week.....the chickens do like them.
My sister had her last chemo round last week. She managed to get through it. still touch and go on whether she'll need a marrow transplant...we should know in a couple of weeks if the values are going the right way. Surgery coming....then we'll see if she needs more chemo. looks like it's a mutation so i guess i get to go and get tested in september. Irritating that the appointments take that long-it's been 6 months since requesting it...sigh. The super irritating thing is i could order primers for 20$ and do the test myself in 72 hours. i just do not understand how it takes so long. oh well. also still no date for surgery. oh well. most days i can get around pretty well still. others, well....whatever. it will happen when it happens. nice to see so many people being vaccinated, and hopefully we can pull out of this virus stuff soon and get back on track!
ducks are laying again. no clue how.....we have 9 youngsters on the ground....3 adult hens, 1 drake. and more eggs. these things are worse than bunnies. And my lab (sally) had a great bunny chase last night. bunny under my truck....showed her and off they went, holy crap that dog can run! the ONLY reason the bunny survived was it got to the corn just ahead of the dog. good girl sally!
alright....off to the garden for a little bit.....weeds are getting bigger by the minute!
