Re: Good Morning!
Last weekend i was headed to the feed store and neighbours one cow dropped a calf right as i drove by. All by herself as far away from barns as possible. So gave them a text and stayed to make sure mom cleaned out and baby was accepted and stood up. Then checked in again on the way home from the feed store and both were doing great!!!

Good morning,
Dough for Easter bread rising, turkey stock in a big pot bubbling gently, barn with clean bedding, feeling very accomplished today, must be time for coffee break.
Have a Good Friday :)

Re: Good Morning!
salt blocks out to the cows pens and chicken feed barrel filled, had 7 eggs out of my 8 hens day before yesterday and only 2 yesterday...they are all older hens that survived the mink attacks so guess that's pretty good. My hubbys pet duck has been keeping company with the one black americauna roo that lost his girls, black and white moseying around the farm...bachelor companions. The other 3 younger roos are still circling the lil hen house and trying to coax hens out to meet them....funny watching them...they "find" a single piece of grain and call and call.
Cant seem to find the tutorial to post photos ....how about some help with its location anyone??

Re: Good Morning!
Just a mutt! Started as part of a project to make a chicken that looks like a roadrunner, but I got so many beautiful colours and patterns that the goal went on the back burner in favour of enjoying the journey. I have two just like this girl. Silver with two black bars across each feather except primaries, which are half and half white on one side. They're also mottled, so all feathers are tipped with white.
Yes
They've been moved to a plastic tub now, since I can't keep up with that much

Re: Good Morning!
I must admit there is something ironic about a chicken and chicks in a roasting pan in a kitchen lol.
I set up my outside coop for the fuzzybutts in the basement and then looked at the weather report and dragged the bag of feed down to the basement. -8 tonight??! -10 monday next week??!! Thats too cold for fuzzies even with the heat plates and heat lamp. With the wind we are supposed to have theres not a hope of keeping them warm outside. So pens are cleaned, need to find a bigger waterer and another feeder (they sure grow fast), but they will stay another week inside. This spring is certainly taking its time warming up. This afternoon i need to decide if i am starting things for the garden in a big way...hm. andneed to cut down the old asparagus stalks and figure out how to fence the garden. Still too cold for the greenhouse without a heater.....usually i have it in full swing by now! Hm....at least we havent found any ticks recently. Got the manure spread in time for the rain today.....lots of little jobs getting done. I like long weekends.
