One heroic but ugly rooster!

Post by Brebis » Sun Mar 13, 2016 2:06 pm

This is our Light Sussex roo Dick. He's a great roo and has now survived 2 dog attacks in the last year plus the ravages of the bitter cold this winter. The hens love him so much they've picked his neck clean! But through it all he's a sweet gentle giant..

I've also discovered that his offspring with the blue laced Wyandoote hen are beautiful to look at. Also in size and growth, makes a good f1 cross and the offspring have the pea comb from the Wyandotte so won't suffer frostbite like dad has.

Last summer. He'll probably get them back after he moults this summer...at least he'll be cool when the weather gets warm!
