DOes anyone have a good/easy method of preserving a cape until I get around to doing something with the feathers?

Salt it on the flesh side and lay flat to dry.

ah, bird cape....yes, salt LOTS of salt. and lay it out with the feathers as smooth as you can. and as the salt gets wet, more salt.
