My Version Of Layered Nesting Boxes

I change my nesting boxes about every 6 or so weeks. I like them to be fresh and clean for the girls.

First you start out with a helper - she's the inspector of the wheelbarrow full of old nesting box stuff.

I make my own herbal mix for the boxes and use this grass to put on as my top layer.

After I wipe out the old boxes I sprinkle in DE, especially the corners and seams.

Then I add a good portion of flax bedding for cushion and filler

Then I put the grass on top of flax layer

Then I sprinkle 1/4 cup of herbs all over the box and then 1/4 cup right in the middle. They often throw the herbs and straw on their backs. Some eat some of the herbs while chilling. And taaaadaaaa! Princess box ready to put back into their snug cubby.
