It’s done! I’m sold out!
This year my plans have gone “all the way”. After a disastrous year last year - between predators - crappy housing (cobbled together) - a barn due for a complete rebuild - and coccidiosis - I have done it. I’ve sold all my birds (just three roos left off to freezer camp soon).
The original plan was to thin the herd - sell the geese, sell the bantams and half of the remaining birds and not breed anything this year or next.
Keeping birds had become a bigger and bigger hassle - and the best idea was to take two years off (travelling a lot next year) and then start over.
The “boss” convinced me to sell everything and start over.
Sold my sportsman and lent out my hova.
So I’ll pop in and say hello and shoot the breeze. Happy bird keeping to you all.

How many hens do you have? How much do you want for them? Will you deliver?

Well that's sad but I did the same thing last fall. I don't regret it especially after this last winter. I'm going to enjoy the freedom from chores. Good luck with what ever you get up to.

Good on you for making a decision and following through with it. We are in the same boat with our cattle herd.

I reduced my chickens because I found when I was off sick with the flu for 2 weeks, doing the chores just about killed me. It made me realize I have too many birds, too many breeds, just too much. I can't really have someone else look after them something always happens and birds die so if I possibly can I do them myself.
