A woman tried to board a plane with her emotional support peacock. United wouldn’t let it fly
In a statement, United said the airline denied boarding to the passenger and the animal because the peacock failed to meet several guidelines, including those on weight and size.

The Jet Set, a travel-focused television show based in Washington, posted the photo on Facebook of the resplendent blue-and-green bird, saying that the “emotional support peacock” had been denied boarding on a flight at Newark International Airport.

The owner had booked it a seat but later was told that it wasn't allowed. SHe still turned up at the airport with it.

You better sit down for this baron!!! Last night they did a piece on service animals being accepted onto planes and a turkey was one of those animals!!!

They were saying that it has become a scam for people to transport their animals for free. They showed almost every small animal you can think of has been taking aboard. Including a tarantula and it showed the guy letting it out to crawl all over the plane, I would protest that. Many of the dogs are actually not service dogs and one man was badly attacked and needed multiple stitches. The reporter went and got a doctor's note and took a pot belly pig on the plane.

Well, animals do offer emotional support to people, and I don't doubt that there's more than dogs that help folks; (I know of horses that help folks with PTSD) but they should be registered or licensed or something. We want everyone who meets a chicken or turkey to have a good experience, and not feel that its a "scammer" in some way.

For most emotionally fragile people, calling attention to yourself in public would be highly counterproductive. A peacock on a plane kind of smacks of narcissism lol.
I read a story once about a woman that was turfed off a city bus for having an "emotional support" ferret in her purse. Or more accurately, for letting it OUT of her purse. She believed it should be allowed because "ferrets are a type of cat, and a cat would be allowed".
I'm not sure that 'emotional support' is needed in some of these situations...is there a therapy animal that can make someone smarter?

Boy, if a person cannot use public transportation without their emotional support animal (if it is allowed) then they should, at the very least, keep the said animal on their person, in a bag, or on a leash, etc. Because that animal will not give anyone else emotional support (quite possibly the opposite) if it is allowed to wander within the confines of the public transport.
That being said, some people do the strangest things just to be noticed.
