It's been sitting in this tree in our backyard, not far from the coop and run, for about an hour. The run is covered and mostly enclosed except for a small access hole at ground level, so I doubt it will be able to get in.
It just got mobbed by a murder of crows, but stood its ground. The crows eventually moved up to some higher branches. I wonder if there is a dead or injured crow nearby that would have prompted the harassment?

I dont know what it is but it sure is beautiful! a murder of Crows will instinctively attack and drive raptors away. thats there job and the reason crows are great to have around our poultry, not to close though so they dont spread disease.

I think it's a barred owl too. We don't have them here but I have seen them several times on Hope for Wildlife.
