Re: a DOG dilema........
The dog sales on Kijiji have reached some sort of hysteria, when I started looking last fall there were usually about 50 - 75 dogs for sale and about 30-50 wanted.
at the last count there are 38 dogs for sale and 185 wanted.
I absolutely dread what will happen in the fall to all the dogs that were bought because children were bored at home.
Meanwhile I have decided on the breeder and sat on my hands, because I didn't want to join this insanity....
BUT our resident dog isn't getting any younger and it seems clear that things will never go quite back to what they were and we better start adjusting to the changes, yes you guessed it, I buckled and contacted the breeder.
After I filled in the questionnaire and send of pictures of my fully fenced back yard as required by the breeder, we had a 45 minute "chat" on the phone this morning.
So a possibility of a puppy for us this fall :)

Great news :) My mother and Aunt have bred golden retrievers for over 55 years now :) Myself I prefer the naughty Irish Setters even if they push my limits at times...never a dull day.

Re: a DOG dilema........
I do not believe I started this thread in January, seems like very different times all together now.
got a bit hooked on following the kijiji dogs for sale, end of June there were over 200 wanted and 36 offered.
now it's started to slowly change again, today 175 wanted 58 offered,
and yesterday a first, 8week old puppy for sale, the ad reads........."we got him yesterday, and decided we aren't ready for a dog" !!!!!
Wonder what made them decide?
The prices have reached some kind of ridiculous in to thousands for what are basically mutts, even if you make up cute nonexistent breed names, very often more then registered dogs. go figure.

Yes a dog that sold for $1500.00 they now ask $4,000.00 for and not even registered.

Re: a DOG dilema........
Introducing Addy,
There was a female pup available out of an earlier litter, and we could have it if we were ready, I actually like the breeding and the health tests better on this sire and dam, so we said yes ...
Here is our new pup, our resident dog Chance (lab cross) is less then impressed, especially after she immediately decided his bed was the best,
She slept from 11.30 pm to 6 am her first night here, pretty impressed, memories of a new baby come to mind :) s
The stuffed dog in the crate comes from Value village, purchased couple years ago because I couldn't resist... All the dog beds are about 20 years old, the color combo is purely accidental, I am having a bit of trouble finding her though :)
