Oh no, that must be annoying, for a second there I thought I missed it.

Re: Good Morning!
I think I'm falling in love with my new pup. I hate when that happens! She's such a sweet, uncomplicated, floppy girl. Yesterday, I was puttering out in the cover-all, when the other half bellows from the house in an odd tone of voice that he needs my hands. I started to rush home, thinking someone was bleeding, but the voice of experience in the back of my head told me that he would have used my full birth name if that were the case, and I became annoyed at having to drop what I was doing to go help him. I walked in the house in a bit of a huff, and Richard wordlessly pointed at Penny, sitting on her rump, with a chicken waterer on her head. She stood up, walked smack into the dishwasher and sat down again. Just sitting there, either staring at the bottom of it, or running out of oxygen, I wasn't sure which, so I pulled it off. It wasn't stuck. Inside was a boullion cube, pristine in its foil wrapper. I have no idea where it came from...I don't even remember when I last owned any. Richard was kind enough to snap a couple pictures before I came in, I'll have to get them off his phone. OMG. Nothing existed in the world for her except that OXO.
In other news, ducklings due to hatch Tuesday-Thursday, 16 eggs looking great! Some under my duck too, but I'm leaving her be. Can't wait!

Re: Good Morning!
So this is the second batch of eggs hatched. I am getting an egg a day from three RIR bantam hens, and 10 eggs per week from four cornish bantam hens: shouldn't I be getting more eggs than this? They are stuck in indoor pens as the outdoor pens get rebuilt.
And the best news is that Merlin's eye has healed as its been two weeks with four vet visits and drops every two hours day and night. Its bad having one "one eyed dog", if we had two that would put nasty scrutiny on us (not to mention another two grand in surgery).
That said one phrase comes to mind "eggs are popping like popcorn" as said by Kenya last year (they are her cornish line). About a quarter look like they're spangled based on feathering in the first batch. Fertility has been great (which can be an issue in cornish bantams). And the best news is that Merlin's eye has healed as its been two weeks with four vet visits and drops every two hours day and night. Well I would think your cornish hens should be giving you more than that, maybe a little sunshine will do the trick.

Re: Good Morning!
Good morning!! Its hard to believe its still morning. It was daylight, so I woke up. And stayed awake. So I got up, had a cup, and decided to go out to the barn. I made it out at 6:15am. When I was out there, I decided that I'm getting tired of looking at the hell hole, so I started cleaning. Soon I had a pile of bags. Feed bags of every colour. Some
ted. Some dusted. Alot cat pissed on. Good lord. Junked the crappy ones, and bagged the clean ones, to use for future garbage.
Collected all the paper from shavings bags I had thrown. Some were literally under measurable fine fine chicken dust... and some were not. All the boxes I am not using anymore. All the other crap... that can be burned was.
Collected all the plastic I'm not using, mainly jugs/containers for feed. In the recycle bin. As well as plastic from the shavings bags. All the cat food tins collected up (most were in a plastic shavings bag), gathered... (I let them lick it out before it goes in the bag) and tied up. FRIGGEN pots/cell packs....anything to do with planting that I don't need is in a pile, to be taken back to probably Terra. Boy... is someone going to get a shock, when they look at those, so covered in DUST/COBWEBS... unreal. I ended up taking 10 feed bags full of junk out for the road. One bag is full of cat beds... over the years... stupid barn cats don't even look at them, much less lay in them. So dusty.
As well as chores done....I thought it was lunch time when I came to the house, I skipped breakfast, and was shocked to see it was only 10:15am! I made an egg salad sandwich.
I also pailed up the fruit and corn I left down in a box... hammered out the 3 inch wall of ice in that old old freezer... and old viking... HUGE... and here long before I showed up in 1984. I just threw the ice onto the basement floor. Rivers run thru it anyhow. I took some old eggs (unfertile and partly along) and buried it all in the manure pile.
Watered the plants in the greenhouse.
And I'm about to die.
Or at least I think I may, lol.
Have a great Monday!! COOL.. CLOUDY.... AND WINDY OF COURSE. looks like it may rain at any moment.
Coffee time!!

Re: Good Morning!
Oh sure, BVF gets up early and works on her "one of these days" list. Makes me sick
. She should get a union job, maybe the post office, that would slow her down and make her less efficient!
Well Saturday I had my buddy Tim over and we got a couple of loads to the dump (my parents were gone and nobody watching). I got a load out of the garage including a wood stove we'll never use. Then we went to the sugar bush and loaded up a used tin shed that was never reassembled and buried under 25 years of leaves. So there's a few things off my list.
(I cleaned out the feed bags last week with my nephew Oscar.)
And she does it all solo
!
I say we run BVF for Premier .... She gets R done!

Re: Good Morning!
lol. I don't think I would make it very far for premier. I have a mouth that goes along with my burst of anger, that gets things done. Its actually a real
show around here.... I'm sure anyone listening would sure like to have me committed. I just sit and fume about the fact that I was cutting grass for the first time out front, west... and over to the neighbours. We rent that property, and like to have it nice. OF COURSE THE WIND HAS TO BLOW, LIKE IT ALWAYS DOES, AND ITS REALLY REALLY GRATING ON ME THESE DAYS... can you tell?? I am covered in grass. Have my GOOD jeans on of course, because I'm thinking... I'm cutting east and west... the grass should just blow beside me. Ya.. right.
I have NO pressure washer... because someone decided to finally do something about it a month ago. A month ago. Took it to some place in Brantford... and 2 weeks later, hadn't even gotten to it yet. And besides.... can't plug it in.. because it has some goofy 3 pronged weird looking plug attached to it. Gary told them the part it needed... and half a week later... they say that they can't get it. We go get it. Cost us $45 for them to look at it. WTF????
So... someone at Galers is a pressure washer whiz... and why didn't we know this?? Galers are related to Gary. Anyhow, a full week ago... they ordered the part from the states. Another WTF? Why couldnt the other place get one?? I like to wash my mower after every single time I use it. I have cut grass lots now, and its not been washed. So.... to protest the fact that it isn't here.... I took the mower down to the shed and used the air to blow off all the grass and dandelions off, so I wouldn't reseed my lawn with them, as well as clean off the radiator screen. The indicator was pushing to red. I've had the thing sounding like a tea kettle.
I came in to see if Gary could grease the fittings on the mower. I CAN do it.. but the fittings don't accept grease nicely, and I am too weak to hold the end down on the fitting and pump the handle with one hand. Gary has just told me he has greased it twice already. I didn't realize he'd done it. So good.
Its a nice mower... a kubota zero turn Z18. I like to keep it nice. When I came inside... Gary had a salad made for me for lunch. Late lunch... but I figured I'd eat it since he was nice enough to make it. I'm nearly done. I may as well get a coffee to warm up with... because its about 3C with the wind.
Melissa is having 6 people come with their horses to ride tonight. There will be 7 with her... someone will ride Honey, while she rides Rusty. I hope everyone behaves and no one gets hurt. Its very wild territory back there.. so many STEEP hills, but so beautiful.
We haven't had a calf born in awhile... was just texting Colleen.. and they are in the process of having another. I think that will be 4 she will have left after this one. We have 21 calves on the ground... and have another 24 to go. I'm glad calving has slacked off here... too busy to be dealing with new calves anyhow. I can feel stuff crawling on me... likely ticks... I was so covered in grass. I hope they don't suck me, I have the rest of the lane to cut before I get into the shower AGAIN.
Well, coffee is ready to drink.. better get it, and get to work. Holly almost got a rabbit I scared out of the long grass I was cutting, but it ran right into my garden by the house. All perennials.. so its hidden all right. Hate wild rabbits in my garden.
