She's funny that way. Tom boy in many ways, but whether she's messing around in the barn, fishing with me or playing lacrosse, she always wants to wear her pretty clothes 👗

just awesome dean! and i saw your LGD video on FB.....LOL. they're awesome!

another stinky hot day. okay, i don't like summer. well, not hot and humid. especially when the AC in the truck isn't working....sigh. and apparently not at work either, because they don't turn the AC system on until June 1. gah! and the dresscode for labs is no sandals, and covered shoulder to toe....sigh. it's warm.

my asparagus was cut to the ground with nothing showing on sunday because of frost sunday night. well....it's 2 feet tall! i swear i can see it growing! i did get two rows of potatoes in. another 4 to go. most of the planting will happen in a couple of weeks, but i'm hoping to get the seed in this weekend for the potatoes, beans, peas, sunflowers and baking beans. everything else is going to be planted through plastic this year to cut down on the weeding. but i have to figure out something about watering....because we will need to water. DH has been busy pulling downed trees from the winter (all the dying ash is falling with the winds lately) so we can spend the time this summer rounding and splitting. have quite a collection going now.....
and my greenhouse is busting at the seams! LOL can't wait to get fresh stuff from the garden again! not bad for thinking i wouldn't be able to garden this year....the garlic is looking amazing, the strawberries are coated in flowers (they flowered the morning after the last frost! whoohoo! usually we lose the first set of blooms to frost), the herbs are already up like crazy, ready for picking. stuff is definitely ready for planting :-)

hope everyone stays cool and doesn't blow away! have a good one!

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend! I'm at work for most of it, but Chantelle got a photo of our litter of puppies that I thought you might all enjoy. Cheers!

Oh such cute pups!! My next dog some day!

Been busy today, but not real productive. Did two loads of barn clothes, and hung them. Went with Melissa to Lowes and got some half barrel planters for not bad of a price. $5 off... and no tax until May 23rd I think. I have already taken one of mine down, and have 3 more. They are rotted clear thru, and wooden slats are not there on some, lol. It will be nice to have new ones, especially with the reunion this summer.

I bedded everything up this morning, and I am still baffed from that. Geez. I'm getting REAL old fast. I get tired out so fast anymore.

I finally pricked out my petunia's. Leggy.. ugly... but hopefully they will come along. For sure, will NOT be blooming for a couple months. So, hopefully they won't be tired out by the time of the party. All the flowers I planted this year, are red and white. I have NOT even attempted to plant my garden. I have worked a spot for potatoes and onions, which I bought today. I didn't even bother seeding those. There is still lots of time to plant a garden, and I am not putting my peppers out until this weather smartens up. Alot. It was so so so cold today with that east wind. I left everything in the greenhouse today.

Went into the basement, and found a freaking box of berries and corn that I did up, intending on putting that into a freezer in the woodshop. Been thawed now for 5 days. Ugh. So..... soon I will have to empty all that gunk into a pail and take it to the bush. Maddening.

Cooked one of my turkeys for supper, but just can't be bothered doing potatoes or anything else. When David asked if I wanted a pizza supper, I jumped that that idea. Turkey can be eaten tomorrow. Its still in the oven anyhow. Browning now.

I cleaned out my plant cell trays (I keep them as long as I can year to year), and have them inside the greenhouse to dry. I will take them to the barn to get all dusted and gross soon. The sun inside the greenhouse just kills the plastic.

My feet are sore.

I am such a whiner.

I took a picture of a few mop heads I hatched not long ago. So cute. They all look like dad tho. Mom is a pretty gold laced one.

I guess I'd better go up to the garden and put my rototiller in, before it rains. I want the hot weather back!!

"Bayvistafarm is such a whiner?". If everything she blogs about is true then I'm a lazy ass. I do half the work she does and I'm way too lazy to blog about it. I don't do a full days work unless I have someone with me. I am always doing stuff for others so every Saturday somebody is here to be a work partner. (old rule: two men do the work of three, three the work of four, four the work of four)
Commuting to Ottawa saps my energy so I don't do more than two hours outdoors in a morning (I need enough "gas" in me to drive home at night).
plant a garden? Carla has that covered. fixing fences, farming, cows; the place is rented to the neighbour. besides my allergies/asthma exclude me from doing hay anymore. firewood: I did 50 chords last year and working on the same this year; got lots of new trails open. I just bought a ski-doo safari with a rebuilt engine and I bought three rolls of snow fence from a yard sale so no excuses this year: I'm actually going to be ready for winter!
now to fix the barn and barnyard fence.....

those mop tops are gorgeous BVF! i think i will always chuckle when i see them.
just had a great hatch of my wheaten and blue wheaten ameraucanas-100%!!! whoohoo! wish i could say the same about my wheaten marans, they seem to be on strike lately....laying, but not fertilized. boo.

rain rain and more rain! love it! needed it! my garden was dry about 6 inches down. the fun of living on sand. huge tstorms last night though, and power out for a bit this morning. but all the youngsters seem okay. moved a bunch outside yesterday, they were all freaked out but loving the space!

next weekend is wyoming sale! hopefully not raining....but also hopefully not blazing hot too!
guess i should go and get doing whatever i need to do today. having a totally lazy day. was going to plant the patio pots today....but really not feeling like drowning on the way to the manure pile for dirt....hm.
hope everyone stays dry and has a great day!

Final tally 8/10. She now has them outside the coop but still inside a pen for a meet and greet. The other girls are fascinated.
