Crazy Ross! ya Tornado watch mentioned the 2 tornado watches just across the border, and environment Canada had warnings for 5 minutes south of me in chatham kent. the wind was howling something fierce around 1:30 am I got up and checked to make sure our windows were still in. they were just whistling like crazy. it was hard to go back to sleep after that.

we had a couple of crazy close lightning strikes out here too! one literally made the house go "BANG!" and shook the windows and the pictures on the wall! and another was just lightning and thunder at the same time. i haven't gone out to take a look yet, but i'm sure we'll have some clean up to do...the rain was crazy! it poured all night! and one storm after another after another after another. the poor dog was going mental, didn't get much sleep....and it finally stopped about 530am. glad everyone is okay al! and ross! that's too close for comfort!!!!

Wow that's some nasty weather you guys are getting. Just sprinkled here last night I think. Only real snow left here is remnants of snow banks beside the roads and anything in deep shade. I saw a chicken pull a worm out of the ground this morning and take off with 5 or 6 other hens chasing her lol. I hate to think like a pessimist but I fear we are going to pay for this early weather. We have a couple of flood warnings around us already.
I hadn't seen one Robin here until yesterday morning I looked out the window and there was no less than a dozen of them pecking around my lawn. The chickens are intently listening to all the new bird sounds they're hearing now and run for the coop now and then. Time to go give my truck a good cleaning and get it as close as I can to a non-smoker smell lol. Have a good one.

Happy-a dilute mixture of tsp and water will get the smoke off the windows and floor mats. It used to be okay on the fake stuff in the old cars but i would spot test if you do the dash etc with it.....that nicotine smell gets into everything. We used to be able to buy a product called nil odour that worked really well in the carpetting but i havent seen it for some time....there must be something like it out there. Otherwise baking soda (dry) brushed through the carpetting will remove some of the smell without damaging the carpetting.

Lol I wish I had read that before I used diluted vinegar on the windows. It worked great but it smells like a fish and chip truck now! Seats are leather so they were easy to clean and I have baking soda dry scrubbed into the carpet now to vacuum out later after it sits a bit. Already smelling better! If it still needs improvement (and I think it will) I will look for an odor absorber to stash under a seat.

a simple odor obsorber... take a tin cookie can, poke some holes in it and fill it with activated charcoal from a pet store. it will last 3 months and then can be reactiaved really simple, I just cant remember how off the top of my head...

Another simple one is to buy a box of baking soda, lay it down flat and slit the side facing up into a flap and lift it (dont spill the baking soda) and slide the whole thing under the seat (passenger seat so it doesnt accidentallybslide under the pedals if you stop fast). Just stir every once in a while. Throw it out when you find its not working as well. Bonus is that it is cheap....

Activated charcoal can be reactivated by washing in water with a tiny bit of dish soap, rinsing and then baking in the oven....but you need a fairly high heat in the oven (like broil for 10 minutes) and it will not recharge all they way so over time it will gradually wear out.....

We just had another crazy set of storms and wind and rain go through. Very high winds. Gah.

Well winter returned last night, half inch of snow on the ground. it seems so cold outside after those spring time temps the last couple weeks. I hope all the trees will be ok!
