Thanks everyone for the comments much appreciated.

Well I sold the last 2 surplus chickens I had today, I have 3 roosters to process for the freezer still, but everyone else is staying for the winter.

I am attempting to house all my young roosters (10 of them) except my ayams and svarts, together for the winter, out of sight of any hens, in a "bachelor pen/coop" until I set up breeding groups in late winter. My young hens (all of my hens are 2016 hatch, except 2) will be housed in a couple groups for the winter, until setting up in breeding groups. Hopefully this works, especially the rooster bachelor pad, or I will be building housing in the middle of the winter.

I picked up a dozen pumpkins today for chicken treats, and getting some more later this week, the birds usually eat them down to the skin. Hopefully the new birds like them or I will have a compost pile full of pumpkin.

Congrats Jim! You look fantastic!! Good job. Too tired to post any more. I don't want to say I'm drunk but close. Had ONE SOMMERSBY hard cider and I'm abit dizzy. Need bed lol.

oooo ross has been having FUN!!!! LOL.
i found something more fun than chickens with a pumpkin! my gelding and a pumpkin! he literally stomps them with both front feet until they're in 2 cm sized pieces and then eats them. what a mess, pumpkin goo all up in his feathers and all over his front feet. LOL.
it's a little scary to watch, but he has such fun doing it. LOL

well, the spinal injections are FINALLY working. OMG. i slept last night, so well! could have stayed there another 4 hours this morning. the one stupid spasmed muscle finally relaxed, and the pain is about an oh, 1? maybe a 2 this morning if i am careful and don't move too fast. The week after the shots is not fun, but for this...a week later....i can get through that week. HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF. yay! hopefully it lasts a little while....

no kids out in our area last night.....nice and quiet. watched a part of one of the harry potter movies. seemed appropriate for halloween.

did get a call from the vet and it looks like tango is either hypothyroid or cushing's disease. since there's not much to do for cushings we will get him tested to find out for sure if his thyroid is off, and go from there....
there is a horse feed supplement called "cushing's care" which i may look into if it's not his thyroid, but we'll get the blood panel done first and make sure we know what it is. vet is off today, but back on wednesday so will call then for the next blood work.

swam yesterday too! was good. i think i'm starting to enjoy swimming.
this weekend is deer weekend for me....i think that's about all i will be doing. first gun season starts next monday, so i'll be done after this weekend probably-although the deer seem to like our place during that first ML season, they all get pushed over by groups hunting east of us. we'll see. hubby will probably be out that week. looks like the time change happens on sunday morning too.

Good morning! Its not a sunny one yet, but mild!! They said it was 2C when I went out this morning at 6:20am... but it was much warmer than that.

Yesterday was a busy day. Gary took a calf to Guelph to the large animal clinic. He has a cryptorchid condition, and his testicle needs to be surgically removed. Guelph will do the surgery relatively cheap ($150), while letting vet students work on the calf. This includes a 3 day stay. We had 2 last year, and just took them to the sale. Its not really 'nice' to drop calves like that for someone else to deal with, but it was written on their paperwork, so no one should have been unsuspecting. Thats 4 bull calves with this condition we've had, since we've had the blonde bull. Clearly an inherited trait. Hes gone now. Next years babies will be Angus crossed.... be interesting to see if any of the blonde females produce calves like this, from their dad.

I didn't go... but a friend of ours went with Gary. She attended Guelph for 4 years, and was excited to go and see if things had changed much. Shes late 40's, so I'm sure things have changed somewhat. I didn't go... would have liked to, but 3's a crowd in a pickup truck... and I would have been relegated to the back seat, with the dog, because Gerda has LONG legs, and I'm a shortass. I stayed home and went shopping for food to feed the combining crew this week. Melissa came along. Well, I went with her, lol. Shes got the baby, AND carseat. Kind of makes up for all those times we did stuff together, and I drove. :)

Thanks KB. he is a royal pain in the butt, but we'll get him through whatever it is! he's only 5, and full of energy, and not "real" sick in any way shape or form. the drugs did bring his liver back into alignment, but it won't stay if there's something else going on, he will learn to dread the vet though-he's always getting stabbed when he's there.

Totally awesome Jim. Been there, done that and I know first hand the hard work at making life changes. It's not a fad, or a diet, it's a life change and it is no easy task.

Can I say I'm proud of you without sounding motherly? I'm very, very proud of you and you deserve every bit of recognition for your efforts!

Being off the meds is really quite the accomplishment, your organs are rewarding you ! I'm so excited for you. Ok I'm blubbering and rambling ... Congrats, you look great.
