Good Morning!
is that why they do that for silage? not a good harvest? there was a field down the road that they cut and baled last fall. made me scratch my head. but of course there is lots of nutrition in the stocks as well.

ENJOY YOUR HUNTING / FISHING HERITAGE & the GREATNESS of CANADA
Good Morning!
Another hot and dry one here today. maybe some rain in the next few days, I hope. Our lawn is about 70% brown and crunchy, at least no cutting required.
It has taken awhile, but the basement is getting close to done.... TomK did the ceiling way back months ago, thanks Tom. We have painted, installed laminate flooring and river recovered pine tongue and groove on 2 walls, working on finishing up trim work and installing new lights.
Taking a few days off of basement renos, I have a bass fishing tournament on the Bay of Quinte on Saturday and Sunday.
Getting cloudy here not sure if we will see much in the way of stars tonight.

Good Morning!
We put a few goldfish in the stock tank for the cattle. Keeps algae down and no mosquito larvaeWLLady wrote:QR_BBPOST Ross-even my 13 mm of rain wont save my lawn. Its totally yellow and crunchy except where we sit at night because we have been watering there. The horses are on hay bales now because theres no paddock grass. Even the weeds are pooching out. Corn is going yellow now too pretty fast. Going to be small cobs not fully filled this year.
Its evening...hubby working late so chores are mine tonight. 8 million trips with 2 liters of water at a time. Sigh. Cant carry a full bucket anymore. Annoying as heck. The mind wants to and the body tries and i have to lie on the floor for an hour to recover....
Got home and one of the turkey poults was out somehow. No clue how. Back in now-she came running over and let me pick her up and talked to me the whole way back to her pen mates lol.
Had sweet corn and fresh tomatoes for dinner. Yum. Cant wait to see if we can see some shooting stars tonight!!
Guess i better get chores done. Also need to check horse hay-it was looking a bit low yesterday....and time to clean out the water trough from mosquito larvae...not sure the horses appreciate the extra protein lol
We feed the fish a bit of bread maybe once a week
Don't feed them fish food because don't know what by products are in it and not sure about cattle drinking it

Good Morning!
I thought about doing that but my horses might drink the fish!!! Lol
Been out inhabiting my lawn chair watching the heat lightning and stars visible through holes in the cloud. Saw 11 nice shooting stars so far in about an hour....just clouded over a bit...so will fall into bed and set the alarm for midnight and see what its like then.

Good Morning!
Just getting in from the barn. I had my 4-H kids over and taught them how to bathe and show prep chickens. We used lavender dog shampoo so my chickens smell lovely. We saw a few shooting stars as well. Nice way to end the day.

Good Morning!
finally clouded over completely at about 1130 so i had to go to bed...was a nice show. we'll be out tonight if it's not thunderstorming. better than tv. not quite as good as watching chickens free range, but still pretty spectacular. LOL
the heat can break now-or at least the humidity. i'm so happy we put the air conditioning in the house this year.
was out in the garden yesterday and my baking beans are already finishing up. potatoes are ready to harvest, so that will be this weekend probably, get them cured and into storage. looks like i'll need to respray for squash bugs this weekend too. darned things. and weeding of course, that never ends. all my mulch, at least 6 inches of old old, is gone. sucked into the dirt...needy dirt. moving the bale holder tonight to it's winter spot, close to the gate, and going to close off the south east paddock since the grass is all dead anyways. hopefully we'll get some more rain and it will come back. then a couple fence posts to pull (easy, wrap a rope and use the tractor bucket to pull them) and sweep again for nails/screws in the old driveshed location. might clean some pens this weekend too. if i feel like it. not sure that i feel like it though.
got my deer seal in the mail a couple days ago....apparently a lot fewer antlerless tags this year in my area. we both (hubby and i) got one each, but i have a pile of friends that didn't-antlered only. i'm not sure that i will be hunting even, but we'll get one in the freezer anyways hopefully to get us through. i need to make sausages (store bought aren't nearly as good) and need burgers (again, store bought aren't as good) LOL.
hope everyone has an awesome and cool day!
