Good Morning!

Post by Ontario Chick » Wed Jul 06, 2016 10:30 pm

Clouds gathered and left again here too, counted 5 drops on my shoulders on the way to the barn, don't think anything actually reached the ground.
Another Ameraucana has gone broody, just returned the Splash to the flock, considered for a moment putting the crate away, then thought if I do somebody is going to go broody, apparently if don't somebody will go broody anyway, 24 hours later the crate has a inmate again.
Anybody has some good moves for a rain dance?

No rain here either. It's so hot and humid I hated closing the back coop tonight.

Hope that rain dance works Ross. Soy beans are shrivelled and hay fields are looking sad.

My first round of broody hens are done. 21 chicks. All dark (go figure-the rooster is my black Isbar).

The 2 co-nesting are due in about 10 days. All Serama and project bird eggs under them.

My birds from first hatch this year are fabulous. Most were Malines rooster over Ameraucana or Easter egger hens. I'll take pics and post under new thread tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great night.

Good Mornin'
There is beautiful mist over everything again this morning. Ya I know it's just fog, but it helps hide the fact I am in a crunchy, brown, dead, dust bowl of a hobby farm. I'm off to take my 4-H Beef club kids to the OLEX and a feedlot for a road trip today. I'm hoping for rain or at least a breeze today so we don't suffer to bad in the heat. Keep cool and hope for rain you all :)

I wished that dance worked ross, terrible dry here. Looked like it was coming straight for us last night, then as the system got closer it just fizzled up. Hamilton area got it but not us :gaah:

Yup, collect the washing water from the waterers to put on the veggies again. We have bird bath here with lots of visitors for the water this year.

Got some rain last night. A wee bit. Everything is drying so quick again. Possibly more rain today but only 40%. Let's hope that 40% becomes a reality. My mulberry bush has literally sagged over and is collapsing. The leaves are curled and it is literally dehydrating in front of me. I have a lot of rain supposedly coming this weekend and I hope it's not too late for this tree and many other plants etc struggling to survive in this desert.

As I was out doing errands yesterday and home with ponds etc., were either dry or dramatically less full.

JT took the Denali today so he can grab a landscaping water jug, the big square mothers, and fill at the shop and bring home tonight. I will be soaking things.

Video on Facebook. Woman livestreamed on Facebook while her boyfriend was shot for a traffic stop. Tail light out/broken. Child in the car. CHILD. IN. THE. CAR. Driver (boyfriend) was a licensed gun holder and apparently told police and it all went downhill from there. 4-5 shots fired into the car with a women and child. I'm speechless. CHILD. No criminal past, nothing for the driver. Gun regulations need to be amended desperately in the US. I can NOT for the life of me understand why the general public needs to carry a concealed weapon on their waist. Carrying a weapon is for law enforcement. there is NO need for the general public. None. We don't carry our hunting shotguns or rifles or even handguns in our nap sack when we go shopping at the mall or to the gas station. Like what the f!!!!

Time to return to my happy-everything-in-life-is-perfect bubble.

On that happy note, hope everyone has a great WET day

I know what your saying Sandy but we CAN carry our unloaded non- restricted shotguns / rifles in our vehicles legally in Canada even store them there if done according to regs . It's in the storage regs . Doesn't designate vehicle but type of storage . I've discussed this with OPP & city police & they concur just let authorities know if pull you over for whatever . :-) . It's the American attitude that needs a slight adjustment . Shame folks have to die & not being there hard to form honest opinion for me . Luck
