Good Morning!

Post by Ontario Chick » Wed Jun 08, 2016 9:53 am

BEAUTIFUL, I am sure they will bloom to perfection on the wedding day.
Good morning, a bit gloomy and windy here, did a little road trip yesterday while DH was vacuuming the barn brooder, I think I had a perfect timing ;)
Bit of rain yesterday and 8C in the morning, chicks should go in the barn brooder by tomorrow, looking at the night temperatures that's not going to happen until Saturday. Figures.
Have a good one with a bit of sun!

Well, Josh has entered a new phase in his life and I've upped my required daily dose of stress. He passed his G2 this morning with 96%. I'm a proud mom!! (But I've also added an extra layer of stress)

It's nice and cool here today. Heading out to cut grass and do a load of outside chores, then work tonight. I need to take advantage of the cooler weather because I love summer soooooo much (NOT). It's great to be your own boss. You can pick your hours and make it work around your schedule. Just some days I forget to schedule work :)

Broody mom is serious. She has 7 eggs under her as of yesterday. I swapped out her one single egg - non fertile. Think I can squeeze a few more under her? Haha. She's such an amazing mom I'm more than confident to let her do her job now. One hatch under my belt, and hers and she's free to take the reigns. I did move her up into a X large dog crate in her box so she isn't bothered by her every needy foster children that are bigger than her and still try to climb under her at night. Ha! Chickens are so awesome.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Its way too cold for me out there. Way. I'm printing off bank statements both from FCC, and the other bank. Will head up and do my quickbooks.

Sandy. Honestly. Do you know you are getting a puppy? Thought I'd better remind you. lol.

Had to move a broody hen on guinea eggs. I had a 'spot' where all the hens laid (3) their eggs.... the black one has eggs in the horse manger, and the white one, has taken to lay with the blue turkey. Gary wanted to move the hay elevator. Of course. That time of year. I had to start my hovabator with the hair dryer. So cold in here again. Only 59F. But if things heat up again, it will be nice in here for awhile.

Ended up with 4 new calves to tag from yesterday. All good. No maiming or injuries. Nice calves.

Heres the one little girl. Nice white tip on tail... and on belly.

So both of my broodies are looking uncomfortable and fluffed up. I think I hear cheeping!!!!!! The next couple of days should tell, Friday is Day 21. NJ has so far sat for 4 1/2 weeks because I took the infertiles away. Good girl.

I'm amazed and pleased she managed to hatch chicken eggs, they're usually so rough on them. Congrats to her! Confirmed here 2 fuzzies with blue broody so far.

AUgg I don't care for this cooler weather, but I did update pictures of my showgirls as I didn't want to spend too much time outside, so time on my hands.

I LOVE this cooler weather. I'd be even happier if snow flakes arrived today. I got so much done outside without sweating buckets and fending off tons of mosquitos. The chickens are happier too.

Made 8 dozen celebratory chocolate chip cookies because using the ovens didn't overheat my home today.

Happy morning here, all the chicks have hatched under my 2 broodies, big THANKS to Kyle who got me the eggs. 2 are from another of Nearly's daughters so I hope they're not both boys LOL. They have black down so easy to pick out. Poor NJ sat patiently for 4 1/2 weeks because the first ones from my hens weren't fertile. 2 little blue chicks too and 2 from the dark brown eggs. Lovely mix all in all!
