Re: Good Morning!
Good to hear from you BVF!! Busy as usual I see. Oh I hope you can kick that cold, there seems to be a nasty one going around. So far I am living in my bubble, although I did go out in the car yesterday 10 days post op!! Gosh it felt good to get out of the house even for a couple hours.

Re: Good Morning!
This one is better than the first one, less pain and swelling. If my back wasn't giving me grief I would be feeling much better. Still not hosting Christmas, sister's Christmas Eve and Mother-In-Laws Christmas day just need to make a dish for that. This is two Christmas's in a row, I am going to get it next year!! LOL

Re: Good Morning!
I'm so glad the girls are grown and flown the coop....it means we get to rotate Christmas dinner and celebration among five homes...they like to host because they are proud that they can and we like to host cuz it gets every one here although we do have the sorta monthly Fam jams throughout the year anyway...it takes all the pressure off and spreads the effort...we still all bring special dishes and it ends being a planned potluck with the host serving the bird but its easier and a lot of host stress is lifted....it also helps that everyone gets along...
...I'm goad that you are feeling better FRF, although a cranky back is never any fun...i hope that irons itself out soon...
...got almost all the xmas shopping done today in the one day..things weren't too bad actually although i think next year we will try to not do gifts at all and just give to a charity...no grandkiddos yet and thats who really get a kick outta presents anyway ...and i saw a tad of snow today...almost forgot what that stuff looked like...geez its been a good day

Re: Good Morning!
Good Morning,
It's snowing on my laptop, must be Christmas.
Drove thru some never never land between Franktown and Smith Falls yesterday, road like a mirror, Some skating rings would be proud of that surface, seems like that township doesn't believe in salting, they just smoothed the surface with a Snow plow. Cars in ditch all over the place.
But, got my turkeys from KB, had a great visit and I tell you, don't bother looking at Beltswille White, unless you want to own them.
What spectacular birds.
I will report on taste after the Hols, have a safe one.

Re: Good Morning!
Good morning! Thanks all for the birthday wishes
it was an awesome day, thanks in part to you guys :)
My son and daughter in law stopped in with a cake, and then I napped off and on all day while everybody else did all the work. Can't beat a day like that! Also got some great news, my mum is coming down for the holidays for a change...usually she spends them with whoever has the youngest grandchildren (definitely not me!!) and makes the rest of us travel if we want to see her LOL But the youngest grandbaby (I think she's 7 years old now) is staying in Toronto for the holidays and Mom hates Toronto with a purple passion, so I win the lottery. We don't always see eye to eye (or, ever, really
), but she's turning 70 next month and you never know. So spent my last dollar on a train ticket (Holy
, you'd think they'd be cheaper) and she's going to be a house guest from tomorrow (tuesday) until January 3rd. Wish me luck :rofl1:
FRF, glad to hear your recovery is going well!
OC, I'm pretty sure the roads out this way still haven't been salted...at least they weren't when I drove home from work yesterday morning LOL Jasper and Frankville areas seem to always be last on the list. It's not uncommon for 6 inches of snow to be on the back roads for 12 hours or more, and I swear they only salt them when they're bare and dry. My 4 x 4 is a necessity LOL, or it is in the years we actually get snow!
So anyway, I get to host holiday dinner this year. I'm having my own small celebration tonight (I'm not Xtian) and then on the 25th I'm apparently going to have a houseful. Son and DIL are stopping in, and I've been informed that Richards' family is coming to dinner. ALL of them. Not a problem, I can cook like a banshee, and enjoy cooking for a crowd a lot more than I enjoy socializing with one. With my mother there'll be 11 people. I think. I can't math tonight. Yes, that's a crowd
I've also been told that MIL is coming TODAY to, um, *help* plan. Oh, boy. I'm tired just thinking about it! We moved another big load of stuff yesterday, furniture mostly, and it's all sitting in the kitchen and living room waiting to be distributed throughout the house-- so I have to do that and about ten loads of laundry while I'm talking cranberries and turnips.
I *think* I've got most of the cat
and dog pee smell out of this place. There is just one spot, around the washing machine, and the washing machine has to be moved to do it...it's a front loader and is the Fat Bas***d of washing machines...it has a big concrete weight in it and unless you've ever moved one, you wouldn't believe what it weighs. The piano was lighter. I may just pour half a jug of bleach on the floor by it and hope for the best :rofl1:
My one goose is starting to go broody. I have I think 10 or 12 eggs I can give back to her when I know she's serious about it, so it looks like we're going to have goslings in January this year. I know when she's serious, because the other goose will stop laying in a sort of sympathy broodiness, and her favourite gander will take up guard duty in anticipation of babies. He will faithfully check her nest for any sign of goslings every time she gets up. He does it with muscovies too, because he knows I stick goose eggs under them sometimes...and the SECOND they hatch, they are HIS! It's adorable, really.

Re: Good Morning!
That all just sounds WAY too busy WWW! Quiet Christmas coming up at my place....no gifts, we don't celebrate. but my mom was going to be alone for the day and that's tough for her, so we're having her out. when i read about ross having his family out and having a great time, i'm sooooo happy for him! wish everyone's Xmas could be like that, just happy and fun-that's what it's all about! but nope, my family always seems to mess that up with some kind of drama. this year it's "i wish that you had taken so-and-so from our aunt's estate so you could gift it to my kids for christmas"....REALLY??!?! i am so done with that attitude. for them it's all about getting stuff....it's like harry potter...there were 11 gifts last year, there must be 12 this year. wow. so we aren't seeing them this year for christmas. and wow, is that ever making an issue...we "don't love them if we are not THERE ON THE DAY". wow. where's that face palm guy....
now there is a family that completely understands the meaning of christmas - as seen on commercials on tv....buy more buy more, it's the only way to show someone they love you! gah.
FRF i sure hope your back gets better soon. that just plain sucks being sore on top of being sore and trying to heal!
So less than a week before christmas, and we ran out of dog food and some other things we need which means we need to brave a grocery store in the near future (like maybe this afternoon), then i plan on hiding out for the holidays. LOL. didn't get any hunting in this weekend-helped friends clean up a huge fallen tree at their place-mostly i sat and sharpened chainsaws while the able bodied folks did the hard work. farrier comes for horses tomorrow, pouring like mad out there today! maybe i'll get out hunting later in the week-deer isn't over till the 31st....still have time! finally have a bit of relief from my back pain with another visit to the doctor last week for better drugs....going to be a long haul to get to march....but at least this makes it a little more pleasant for now-can't decide if it really hurts less, just seems to hurt less, or i care less that it hurts...or all three....LOL. moved some little chicks yesterday, cleaned out the brooder, they are now in a pen (having done in the egg eating birds that were in that pen), with tons of room to roam! and they're loving stretching their wings and pretending to be big birds. the one head boy in the group tried to take on a full grown cornish rooster through the wire yesterday, all poofed up and everything-he barely has feathers! the cornish i swear was laughing at him....the thing doesn't even reach his knees! but sure thinks he's a big bird!
onwards into another week.....only a couple more days to go to holidays!! lock down tomorrow...hope to wake up friday to :chicken-hatching:
hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Re: Good Morning!
Families, Greek Drama and love and happiness all rolled in one.
There was a great wisdom my grandma passed on to me... when you are really peeved off at somebody write them a letter listing all the injustice they have done to you and how unbearably selfish and inconsiderate they are, and then burn it. It really works.
It's now much faster, with internet you can type and erase as many times as you want, just don't put an address up top less chance you will accidentally actually send it.
Freezing rain here, so will postpone grocery shopping until it melts. Have a safe one!
