Developer draws fire for cutting down 100-year-old trees

Beautiful ! Oak trees are just so beautiful. We have red and white oak, very tall but not the girth yet.

Thats true, that fine won't put the trees back, and whats done is done. A hefty fine of what were they talking about... heard it on the news 2 days ago.... $100,000 per tree? That will set the developer back abit. AND well it should make him think.

But.. the trees are gone, he got his way... and he will probably make many times over, what he pays out in fines.

My husband said yesterday that the developers look at it like 'it's easier to ask for forgiveness, than to ask for permission.' Sometimes trees do need to be cut down due to rot, but I don't think that was the case here.

QR_BBPOST I don't see anything in the article about a penalty for failing to get the permit. Will they even get a fine?? I hope so.

Oh they will get a BIG fine for clear cutting trees in that area....especially now that Mayor Tory is pissed.

I have heard of $10,000. per tree. We Always get folk who think they are going to get one by us.
( oh I planted the tree, it's on my property & the township said I could cut it down - pfffft whatever )
It's not until I tell them, "YOU get the same fine as we do! " that they think it's better to get a permit.

I heard it was 30 or so trees @ $100.000 per tree, it will hurt his profit a bit.
A regular home owner will think twice about cutting down a tree without permission.

I am "not" a tree hugger per say, but I think everyone should operate with the same rules
But a diseased or rotting tree is not safe, so I can see them cutting it down.
Can't understand why anyone wants a big honking house on a little lot, with absolutely no trees , birds or ?
Houses so close together that you can hear a fart from next door.
To each is own ~ thank gawd it's not my world anymore.
