I've always wanted to travel but now I'm not so sure.

Loved Costa Rica when we went!

Of all my traveling, one of the most wonderful places I was was Ecuador. Pretty safe. Sill mostly not resorts, but real people and things. The climate high in the Andes is great. Here, as you go north and south the temperature changes. There on the equator, the temp changes as you go up and down in elevation. Quito is about 11000 ft I think. Twelve months of the year, if it goes below 10 at night it is really cold. If it goes above 25, it is very warm. For about 5 mos of the year they get rain about 3 in the afternoon. Hot springs, volcanoes, and wonderful people. Relatively cheap. Go to the market in Otavallo on Saturday. It was a market town before the Spanish. The lowlanders brought trade goods up and the mountain people traded wool and weaving and stuff. Whitewarter rafting. Wildlife adventures. Mountain climbing. Eating simple food. Its where potatoes, tomatoes, corn and beans probably came from. First time I ate quinoa (in soup) was in Ecuador. Take the busses up mountain roads that are falling off the cliff (it seems.) Scuba diving. The Galapagos. It was the only place I ever considered leaving Canada for. Wonderful fruits and vegetables. I can't say enough about the place. Similar in Peru and Bolivia and Colombia. A sense of adventure is necessary. Not much for Club Med all inclusives, thank God.

One of my brothers has been travelling since last September. He left Ontario for BC to settle his son there. Flew back to get his partner and a they took off in his Ford 150 with a pop up camper (second hand 3,500 I think). they drove down the west coast, across the southern states to Texas where they crossed into Mexico. They are in Guatemala now. He says the most expensive part is is cell phone bill at $100 a month so his kids can call any time. They have camped at Walmart, on fire roads, and secluded beaches. Her kids visited them in Cancun for New Years. His have joined them now for some surfing.

My brother did close his business and sold everything he owned to go. He only took what fits in the camper. His girl friend has taken a year off work.

Gary and I went on a cruise back in the 80's. Last minute deal....$2000 for the both of us... flights included. We had to be ready to go in two days, lol.

When we got off the boat on the islands... we didn't go for the 'brochure' tours... we hailed a taxi... and took off to see whatever we wanted! It was great! Went to a sugar cane factory, and the bags of raw sugar was stacked so high, it made you dizzy to look up to the top. We actually got to climb on the machines/catwalk to look in where they grind/process it. Kind of insanely unsafe tho. Went to a little private secuded 'beach', in the forest... saw a pig farm... went and saw a coffee farm.... up in the hills to see a volcano up close... and rubbed elbows with the people who lived in shacks built up that mountain, and dumped their garbage out ontop of the ones below, lol. NO windows in the 'windows'. Just a cloth. Was so nice and warm up there.

Of all the things that bothered me most, was poor donkeys/horses... thin, walking along with loads so high, I do NOT know how they stayed on. On one island... cattle just wandered wherever they wanted. Sacred cows, I guess. Chickens were scrawn bags....well, most animals were.

Raining high up... sunny and beautiful down below. The market was an eye opener. Grab a chicken, take its head off on a greasy board.... throw it it in a fire barrel... take it out, and pluck/butcher it. Cattle beast sides hanging in a cardboard shack out on the sidewalk. Want something?? They just saw it off, LOL.

Yuck.

We spent a few months travelling in Spain and France before we emigrated to Canada. On a motorcycle no bookings just going wherever. golden Eagles in the mountains.

What, the giant caldera is going to blow? Then we're all done for. I thought the geologists thought there was going to be less risk. ???

they stopped recording and posting the data Robbie... hasnt been in any major news or nothing. first hand accounts and alternative news outlets. check out info wars.
