Good Morning!

Post by Killerbunny » Wed Apr 06, 2016 10:53 am

Bad news good news kinda morning. A hen looked very tired yesterday evening so I put her in a separate coop. SHe was dead this am. I posted her and was relieved to see she looked great re parasites condition etc BUT was too fat. I had been feeding them cold winter treats as in a normal winter and it's clearly too much. Huge blood clot and flabby heart. You're all on a diet ladies, I feel bad I let that happen. Brighter note Stephen was seen completing the deed with one of the turkey girls so he seems to be back in form - so relieved!

BVF I have had a problem with a New Incubator Geneses I purchased couple years ago, condensation between the 2 window layers, to make a long story short, I dealt with the manufacturer and got a replacement incubator, and they didn't want the original back.
I never shipped the Incubator, just took pictures and e-mailed it to them.
Why not set up a spot check thermometer on the top of the incubator and send them an e-mail with a LARGE picture of what is happening with your incubator? Just my 2 cents.

My APA standard arrived this am and it's beautiful. Worth it just for the pics.
Now Stephen has bred 3 hens and there is a line up waiting yipping! I don't have a life BTW.

I sent him a short video, of the readouts. First, he said call me. Gave me a number that didn't work. Tried to send a video to his cell from mine. He can't read it. Sent it via email. File too big. Tried another email address. Haven't heard back yet. Ready to get the noose out.

Thanks everyone!! Got it working. The manufacturer said that it won't work in a cool room. My room says 68F... its in the woodstove room, so it feels plenty warm. It wasn't against a wall or anything, but kind of off near a corner. He said the room had to be at least 70F.

So, I took the thing, lid off, and practically had the thing ON the stove. Not to melt it of course. Heard a couple clicks inside the electronic's... without it being plugged in.... and when I did plug it in, the heat light came right on... stayed on.... and the Incubator temp started climbing like crazy.

So... I'm warming the eggs up by the stove... AGAIN... 3rd time... and fingers crossed, going to set them finally. Its back in that corner... but thinking that its working now, it should keep working. yay!

i'm very glad it's working. :-)

KB sorry about the hen. but i'm glad turkey boy is doing better!

i found an AWESOME find-if any of you have to wear safety glasses all the time but need reading glasses....there's "readers" safety glasses! they have a built in bifocal part! whoohoo!!!!! love them! and only 9$ each from amazon. my workplace doesn't carry them, and it's a pain to get bifocal safety glasses made, so i bought these and they fit amazing, and i can read the small print now! ha ha simple things i tell ya.

BVF congrats on getting back in business (a little sheepish I'm sure.)

I had that moment yesterday with tax software, person works in quebec and I put Ontario. It took me an hour to find my mix up.

Interesting, I have never heard that, but I have noticed the electronic read out is only correct when the room temperature is above 20C, s I have been setting it to higher temperature, when the room is cooler overnight 16C, to achieve the correct inside temperature.
In a way it makes sense, if the incubator tried to reach 39C in a 10C room it would probably melt itself.
Thanks for posting the info BVF, I am going to be a bit more careful what I ask of the hard little worker. :)
