Good morning! Hopefully the internet stays on long enough for me to get my post in here. I used up ALOT of data... I got the warning on my phone... about 2 weeks ago. Thought the computer wasn't working, because of the router. Got a new router.. ugh... and its not the router, its the internet coming in. I called this morning, because its on the fritz again, and she told me there would be no charge, if my modem was fine, although she checked it (amazing) and told me its failing? And a charge if everything was fine? What, some kind of protection on their part? Idiots.

The black duck WLLady blessed me with had baby ducks!! She WAS sitting on 10 eggs, and came out with 5. Cutest things.

Its been so wet here... and the grass grew of course, thats ALL I did last summer. Sick of it. Last time I cut grass I just power washed under the deck, without cranking it up to do it proper, because I intended to go out and cut 'one last time'. I've already done 2 ONE LAST TIMES!. So so sick.

Because of all the rain, and rain coming, not quite a couple weeks ago, I took out the step ladder, and thought I would clean out the eavestrough. I did the back one... and one over the garage has the leaf gutter thingy... so didn't need to do that one. But the highest on saw me on the ladder, VERY top.. about 6-7 feet up... big ladder, heavy duty... and of course, it started to teeple and fall. Naturally it did, I had one side IN the flowerbed... and the other side ON the wooden border of that bed. One foot didn't quite flush with the other, so I put a brick under it. Well, I hung briefly from the eavestrough, but let go, because I didn't want to rip it off the house. I fell between the halves, but my my leg got crushed when my body squished the halves closed. It sure hurt... and I ended up going to the Dr. Friday past, to have it looked at, because the night before, I didn't know if I had sustained a compartment bruise (which you can lose your leg, crushing blood vessels... stuff like that). If I did, it would have been too late anyhow, although it would have bugged me alot more before Thursday night. I've never had a bruise bug me like this one, and I have had my share of whoppers. This is a picture of it a couple days after. Right now, its finally fading, but I have a few hard knots I can feel under the surface. All I can say, is I am NEVER doing that again. I guess at 60, I'd better be done, or get the proper equipment for the job. Stubborn still I guess. Everyone was busy... and I was the only one home. Happened on Sunday at noon, almost 2 weeks ago.

The other leg is not as bad, didn't bug me as bad, but bad enough. Lovely legs eh?

I went and wrote my BZ licence on Tuesday, and yesterday, went to Drivetest and completed everything else (pay/eye test), then walked across the parking lot to a Service Ontario, and got my health card renewed! How handy to have them in the same lot/area. Had to drive all the way to Burlington tho... but so glad its done, and I don't have to study anymore.

Haven't had the furnace on yet... its 60 in here.... but the propane fireplace is on and off. Should turn it up more, my legs are FREEZING sitting here. I need to go get feed, and clean the bathroom... and someone here, lets the dog out, for the walk out the lane, but doesn't put her back in the house, when he goes to the barn. So her hairy feet walk around the barn area, wet crap and mud everywhere, and goes to the driveshed, and stands in grease spots... and then comes up here when I get home from bus, and lets in 2 dogs, not just one with crappy feet. I guess not having to EVER wash floors, it never occurs to him to either wipe feet, or not to let Jeremy's dog in as well. Its a never ending battle.

I still have garden to clean up, but this cold weather and wet bugs me so much. I've planted my garlic... mudded it in basically, and the kids built a HUGE pile of tamped down leaves to jump in, and abandoned it, when it got cold and rained and rained. I went out and cleaned up that pile, and loaded some on top of the garlic patch. Noticed quite a few tumble weeds of that crap grass caught in the zinnia's (and some not caught) around my garden. Grass is a huge pain in the ass for me. It came from the wheat field west of my garden, and of course, ALL kinds of weeds have come up, after the wheat comes off.

Beans are not off totally, a few more acres, but they are coming off black and mouldy... everyones is, says the guy at the elevator. Corn is coming off.... dry enough to do that... but moisture is high.. I believe about 26%. We didn't get as much wheat in as we wanted, and I think they are going to try, my GAWD its into November... the drill is RIGHT full, and I guess shop vac'ing out 5 tons of wheat seed is not an option. I think thats what Gary said is in there. Farming sure has been tough this year. Jeremy took 2 weeks off his city job to harvest, and I think he got 4 days combining... and between that, fixed. If it didn't break down as much as it did, we would have been done. Old equipment... we bought it used in our day... and its older now. Suck it up and fix.. or buy your own. I'm not liking the attitude.. I KNOW its frustration... but. We also had it custom done in the day, but your right back into waiting for the operator to get his thousands acres off (ones with the new combines), because you know his grain is coming off at premium harvest conditions, and yours is not.

I have NOT seen ONE gold finch this fall. Usually they are frequenting the feeders here. In the spring tho, I noticed out of the MANY I had... they had bad eyes.. some infection going thru them. They must have all died. I hope they return... I've bought 100 pounds of niger for them. There are only a few, very few, other birds that eat out of the finch feeder.

Well, I guess its time to get to work at something. I do need to go get feed.

Have a great week! Next week, double digits again, maybe I can finish grass and put away the mower properly!

Lol. Me neither..... I think i will be happy to never hear the word vaccine again as long as i am alive after the last 2 years lol

Closed the northwest paddock for good.... Not even sure that the horse cares lol.

Yes its too many ducks. We wanted 20 or so.... Thought we were good and then the duck came back with more. And then another duck showed up with more. Theyre horrible creatures. Ah well.... They are cute when they are little lol

Ha ha good idea! If you get more than 10 people in a room there will be a disagreement! @Killerbunny @WLLady I've managed large jobs and it's like trying to get 10 roosters and 2 hens to get along. Challenging. I'm an engineer but I'm a rare type of engineer. I'm interested in everything. I was allowed to take 2 electives and I took microbiology and animal biology in university and I loved both courses. I also really loved chemistry. I find accounting makes me want to sleep though so I guess I'm not interested in everything 😂😅😂 @Bayvistafarm hope you have a 100% recovery. This year will be the last time I go on my roof to clean the gutters. I'm 57 and I want to live to see at least 1 grandchild. Everyone says it's great being a grandparent and I would like to try it! Fingers crossed. Between it being too dry and too wet the weather seems to be against you...Hope next season will be better. Has anyone tried hydroponic? I was thinking of it but not sure if it's a good idea. Hope you all have a wonderful day. I better get to work!

@Bayvistafarm baby ducks are sooooo cute!!!!! I heard coyotes howling then they went silent and then many gunshots for a long time (15 mins) at the conservation area just south of us. I know you can't hunt there and I was wondering if I should do something like call the police. This was around 10 pm yesterday. Does anyone know what was happening? Maybe not illegal activity?

Glad you didnt call the police!!!! Lol

We started processing. Got 10 done and my back quit... Sigh. We have 3 escapee birds that need rounding up that got out.... But theyre leghorns so wish us luck with that!!!! They may just stay out. So we will putter along as we can in the next few days till we are done. Some of these old birds are so tough... I think theres someground chicken in our future.

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is doing well.....another nice day here. warm (but not hot) and sunny and not windy, and why oh why did it have to be cloudy on the ONE NIGHT that there were northern lights in the last week??!?! LOL. This weather sure makes for some amazing stargazing. I hope everyone saw venus and the crescent moon last night. awesome.

We did it....We are now down to 24 pullets and 2 roosters. AND somehow we actually got an egg from one of the ee's yesterday even after all the kerfuffle of catching, moving, catching and moving again. lol. I think we'll be a little short on eggs now for the next week or so haha. Freezer is VERY full now. DH informed me that there was one duck that needed to be carried into the barn the night before, so we found him-he had somehow managed to break one of his legs! so he joined the chickens (poor thing) and the old old male drake that we had that couldn't walk any more (he got just too big for his legs to support him) also went. The ducks will be made into montreal smoked duck when we finally get around to processing them. I must admit i'm looking forward to a smaller feed bill.....we will be down into 1 pen of chickens, 1 of ducks and 1 with 2 turkeys when we are done. I need to built a ramp thing so the ducks can get outside through the door in the wall-they don't jump super well LOL. the turkeys are big enough to step out, and chickens are agile enough to jump up and down, but the ducks are hopeless. So i'll fuss with that in a bit this afternoon or something. anyways, beautiful weather, definitely have a walk on the menu later today!!!!!

Good morning! It is a nice day with a light breeze. And sitting here at my computer on the 2nd floor, I can hear the guinea fowl singing. They sing often, and they sing with volume, which is good because we know where they are on the property.

Good morning. We were lucky enough that the sky cleared enough to get a view of the partial lunar eclipse this am.
