Good Morning!

Post by SandyM » Wed Mar 02, 2016 8:28 am

Well I've been ripped off again. Barely a snow fall here but we got enough freezing rain and ice pellets to last the whole season. Everything is covered in ice. No power loss. Impressive. It's windy and cold. Fire is roaring, but woke to the house being 58 degrees. Brrrrr!!

Josh and Lou were out doing snow removal all night. I made Josh a snack to take with him to help get him through till breakfast. Teenager free to good home. Warning: Eats a LOT!

(One is for Lou, but Josh will fight him for it)

TWO sleeps till my biggest night of the year, so far. Burton Cummings in Windsor. So excited!!! I wonder if there is a dress code at Ceasars. Can you tell I get out a lot? Hahaha!

Broody came out on her own yesterday and ate. Big sigh of relief. I know her instincts aren't to kill herself ... So I'm relaxing. Bossy boots is off the eggs again. Someone must of poop and she couldn't resist. Maybe I'll rehome her with the teenager who eats a lot.

Stay safe, stay warm, make it a good one. I've got some bread and muffins to get on the go today and a load of paperwork to get through.

Cheers!!!!!

Compared to last weeks storm we didn't get any snow and just a wee bit of ice despite much more predicted. Looks like the chickens will be able to go out on the grass again today!
Hope everyone who got it worse don't have too much trouble...

I guess we are getting all the snow nobody else got , started yesterday around 4 pm and has been coming down and blowing around ever since.
First thing on the news today earthquake in Indonesia, son posted there, how is it that I haven't heard Indonesia mentioned since Suharto and Sukarno and since he left it's on the "bad" news on regular bases? Sorry rhetorical question.
DH just left for the barn behind a snow blower, probably should have tied rope around his waist so he can find way back.

Brebis....grass????????...like wth???....lol...i gotta put fresh straw in the pen just to give the girls something to root through and stay entertained...they seem to abhor walking on snow...although one gal is more than willing to trek across the yard to chk out offerings in the compost bins...its her go to place...somedays she has company but mostly on her own...i'm sure the others just stand there on the straw thinking " what in the world is she doing? crazy chick..lol "....oh well, all fun

im heading out to blow the laneway then off to the bush to gather more firewood. my trusty little Case lawn tractor n mini dump trailer brought a cord of wood out of the bush yesterday in 4 trips. these next few days will be my last chance to get it. man is that lil tractor ever handy! n maybe if the ground is solid enough ill bring the truck back to haul it all up to the house. but I might just play it safe instead and leave the truck home!

 thats a rootbeer ;-) heeehaaaaa

So here's a funny for the day. i get the beet pulp in the bucket from the sink in the house where it was fluffing up all night, and the tea for the trip to work, and all the work stuff to go to work. out the door, wearing my big barn coat, because i'm going back to the house to change into my coat that goes into work with me. Feed the horses, check all the birds, set up the brooder for the turkey poults (all doing GREAT-they're moving to the barn tonight)....check waterers, collect the turkey eggs, restock the bucket with the unfluffed beet pulp, go back to the house....and can't get in! the patio door sliders are STUCK firmly encased in ice. i cannot pull them open. I also cannot get the front door open, because of the ice on the door...it's solid over the handle, so the push button, well, doesn't push. i hammer on it...it doesn't break the ice. it's not pleasant to hit something with an arthritic hand, so i then hit it with the bucket, it STILL doesn't break....so i start hammering on the door to get my hubby who is inside to open the door. the look on his face is priceless....like "WTH? why are you banging on the door you ijit". so i explain i cannot "push the push button". LOL. he did something that sounded terminal to the door, but now it works. LOL
locked out of my own house because of ice  ....LOL
skating rink to the barn, underneath a skiff of snow. we really didn't get that much, of course what we DID get is blown into a drift right in front of the door to the barn. of course! snow day for everyone in our area, no busses running, but of course, the university and college never close....ever.....so...work day for me....sigh.
