Ya I agree the soil block system looks sweet I looked it up awhile back but then remembered I bought a bunch of Jiffy pellets and fibre pots late last fall when they are on sale. So I will use them up this year and I think I will try the soil block system next year.

Yes, the Lee Valley price is good for those two. I also use the 4" block maker...it only makes one at a time, but the 2" block drops right into it. I think I paid about $100 for that one though...can't remember right away where...maybe Johnny's Seeds.
That 2" block maker above comes with the cube inserts, and also a set of smaller dibbles for planting things like cukes directly into the 2".
The trick is getting the mix right, lots of peat, or another kind of fibre like coir, that allows it to bond together in the press. Which you need to balance with some lime.
I first read about them in Eliot Coleman's books...all of them basically master's garden manuals.
