Neat! My guess is its a flywheel...but for what machine I have no idea.

Fyi: A flywheel is a weighted or heavy wheel that stores energy and balances energy delivery to some other use. A car engine has a flywheel to balance the power delivery from the 4 strokes of a piston engine which would otherwise deliver "jerky" power.

Looks like a flywheel from an old grain milling or grinding system.

Thanks! It's hard to tell from the pic but it's layers of disks held together with wooden dowels (12 of them) through the layers and it has a carved appearance on the surface.

My original thought was to make it into a clock but I haven't had the heart to dismantle it lol. So it's just a conversation piece still.

Lol, I did the chair thing! My parents bought those little wooden chairs back in the seventies and now they splinter apart when sat on, and I'm a skinny guy! Last week one dumped me out into the hallway head over heels, this week it's helping start toasty fires.
