Jim
Nice to see someone having such dedication to a breeding project in planning. Best of success in your endeavor.
Wondering if you could pass on link for auction you mentioned as I've never seen one in Canada.

Congratulations Jim, that's what I call a dedication!!
I am sure there were many households beside mine :) where the dedicated poultry person presented your example as a proof they aren't completely off their rocker after all, and there are people even more "dedicated" then they are :)

I took a few new photos today of the Ayam cemani and Svart Hona.

So here we have photo number 1.... one bird is an ayam and one a svart which one is what?

Here is photo number 2, two younger birds, again one is an Ayam and the other a Svart.

I have not really looked closely yet, but some of the Ayams are getting good size combs |(possible cockeral), next time I have them all out I will take a good look at them all and see what their combs look like.

I don't want to start speculating on sexes so some and then be totally wrong.

What is they best way to ID chicks, leg bands and then replace with larger ones as they grow?

My guess is Ayam on the left, Svarte Hona on the right, in both photos. That's left and right side of the photos, not your left and right hand. lol.
Very cute!
That last one does look like it has a rather prominent comb already. Maybe that means nothing when it comes to Ayams.

Think about wing bands like the turkeys, that way no tedious replacing! They look to be a fair size so that might work.

wow do they ever very look similar eh. Very nice looking birds Jim! I cant wait to see them full grown. I ID chicks by toe punch, its quick, simple and permanent. then I put on legbands once I pick my keepers.
