Drought
stil no rain here, this is all that's left of the creek, have't been this low in 20 years, normally supports a pair of Canada geese and whole bunch of Wood ducks and Mallards. Not sure where the turtles went and I don't hear any frog concert either, a bit depressing.
If it wasn't for the bachelor Beaver and Muskrats making channels, I think it would be completely dry.

Sell the cows? Lack of food, water, or both?
Thats painful. You work hard for years to build a good herd, and you haven't recovered from the last "disaster" when the next one hits.
Actually it's the "new" normal weather we can expect. Extreme rain, extreme dry, extreme snow, extreme wind... And more often that "a fifty year event".
I am still cutting down trees that died from the dry and hot summer of 2012... Now the "farm" side of this place is rented to the neighbours. I don't have the patience for todays farming.
Good luck...

We're headed for climate disaster, perhaps the Mayans were right and 2012 was right on. For a sobering view of where we're headed have a look at these spiral graphs, of temperature rise and sea ice disappearance. Since it's business as usual, (Stopped mowing your lawn with a gas mower? anyone?) the International hand-wringing fests at Kyoto and Paris regardless, our future or lack thereof is sealed. Many climate scientists think we've gone past the tipping points even if we stop emitting CO2 and of course that's not going to happen.
