Lizzie, i may need to see that bacon cookie recipe. i just can't seem to imagine it.....LOL

Well, raining like crazy this morning. but at least it's rain! and not freezing (yet) or snowing (yet). left all the girls in this morning, they won't be out anyways. The horses, amazingly, were in the stall in the barn! guess they weren't into getting rained on this morning either. of course, they were looking for breakfast.....as always. they see me come out of the house and i get nickered at and then they run around to the stall to get breakfast and are ready and waiting for me LOL.

tomorrow i lock down on turkeys....guess i'll see what happens. never had much luck with them. so this time the incubator will be turned down a degree when the humidity is upped like recommended on porter's turkey site, and see what happens!
hope everyone has a great snow free, freezing rain free day.

Morning,

It's pouring rain. We have a river going down the driveway. Chickens are out on grass eating like its their last meal. Soaking wet!! Silkies in covered pen nice and dry. Oh, big girls have a covered pen, but to stay in there is jail for these free birds. On the occasional I do lock them up so silkies can have a turn ranging, oh the noise. The complaints. The union gets called. The line up at the door. Spoiled.

I gave them half a cabbage yesterday, they literally looked at it, one pecked and they all walked away like they'd been ripped off. Ugh! Gave them some corn on the cob and it's a feast.

I have a Silkie who is laying on the coop floor and she rolls it outside the coop and buries it. Not a very good job of burying cause I see it every day. Sometimes I get there before it is rolled out of the coop and scoop it up, but yesterday morning I wanted to see who it is. Yup. It's who I thought it was. Weird behaviour.

I don't know if anyone else buys their pet products online. Like revolution, advantage or adantix etc., but I do. I also get my sashas blend online from the same place. It's much cheaper than the vet, even with shipping.

Just make sure you pick the CDN version. I'm about to order my spring and summer supply for the fur-members and thought I'd share. They have a lot of items actually.

Stay dry and warm today. a lot of rain on the way. Blah. February. Should be snow!! Have a great day!

OH. Has anyone ever used a hatching service? Since my silkies apparently are anti-broodies I've contacted one online. How do you know you its your birds you're getting back? Are they key questions I can ask?
I'm hoping to get some hatching eggs in the near future from bodabing - his black ameraucanas. But these girls aren't really showing me any signs of being a mom. So much for the Silkie theory.

Morn all , looks like a "ducky" morn today . Just found this on web . Is this what happens when you feed your chickens pork or pork byproducts or your pigs chicken or chicken by byproducts. Go figure Luck stay safe .

I'm absolutely with Kathy on bacon cookies. Having a hard time imagining meat cookies. Lol

Morning all! pretty crappy rainey day out there today. Gage is registering for school today... hes very impatient and excited to go!

those bacon cookies were delicious! they wernt a sweet cookie, more like a mini garlic/cheese/n bacon bite... that looked just like a cookie! soooo good... I had to fight about 20 guys off them LOL during the canoe trip.

besides what Lizzie made me for supper (pizza pockets of some sort, also delicious, I collected a whack load of fiddle heads, (they are very easy to catch) and had just about everyone catching crayfish. delicious bush meal. its a bummer we alwasy go before bass season opens... theres lots of bass in the Saugeen river and were always to late for the trout n salmon runs so crayfish it is LOL.

Good morning,
Snowing here like mad, DH insists on doing his usual egg delivery to his customers this morning...
Will put flat chicken covered with bacon strips in the oven, with side of home grown potatoes, he will need it when he gets back.
Thats how I like my "chicken bacon" ross. ;)
Expecting some messy weather this aft and tomorrow so will stay in until Friday, one great thing about being retired. :)
Stay safe!

Just finished the last of our storage potatoes. Still have plenty mashed and frozen though. Because it wasn't so cold this winter the darn things started sprouting early!
