We travelled all over when we were kids until my parents bought a cottage, only found out much later that my mom hates travelling (travelled too much as a kid) but she wanted us to see the world so we aren't like a frog sitting at the bottom of a well thinking the sky is a small blue circle...old Chinese saying  I went to Europe twice once solo and once with kids and dove in coral reefs (Bahamas) that were not bleached :-) ... didn't know what this was @Killerbunny I have lost my desire to travel (eg. 16 hours in a plane) now but I thought an RV would be a moving house so maybe quite enjoyable. I'm going to try renting an RV for a few weeks because I've never done this. I might not like it

I went car camping once for one day. There were people playing guitar, pop music, rock, etc. all at the same time...this annoying music mix could be heard clearly from our site. Couldn't get out of there quick enough. I was thinking of extended road trips with a super comfy vehicle like a cargo van sized RV so it can drive similar to a car and I won't need to worry about accomodations when I'm in remote areas or tourist traps. I have not been to the Yukon and Newfoundland so need to do this so I can say I have been to all the provinces

We prefer the quieter spots like N. Ontario. We have a pop-up camper which can be driven over rough roads. Now we use it for Staycations in summer.

It's quite quiet where we live, except for traffic going by; it's a main road, too. Most of the time, we only hear our rooster or the guineas.
The only travelling we did as a family (with our children) was to our cottage, or to wherever DH's sister's family was living. Her DH is in the air force. With the kids, we have been to Colorado and France and other places in Ontario; we missed Oklahoma and Germany.
