At around noon, I went into the barn to dole out scratch and black oil seeds to my birds, and to collect eggs. When exiting the barn after just a few minutes, I walked through a blizzard. What's up with that?!?

Me too...I was "flurried" twice today...No snow right now...I have a new toy...I thought the sensor was broken until i realized the minus sign had a point at the end It's annoying when something is broken the first time you try it...It's nice if it lasts at least 1 day which is how long my metal water heater base lasted...my previous waterer would accidentally open and I would spill water all over so I screwed it in but a hassle to unscrew and screw in again so I gave it away to a local farmer...anyone find a heated waterer that is easy to use and will last a long time? Right now my coop is heated so it doesn't go below zero so no need for heated water but I would like to get rid of the heater next year...

@lolotsung we got one of those weather stations! Ours works great but do I really need to know it's -25 when have to go out?

Couple nice sunny days about zero, some stuff melting, but not sloppy or muddy. I like it. Got on the boarder horse the other day. Wasn't 100% sure what it would be like, as she has not been ridden in the last year, and came from somewhere else when she was, but I had to try. She is really quiet, I slid off her backside and crawled under her belly. The people that own her have little kids, and they don't know horses, so I was sort of checking her out. She will be fine and calm with kids. I am pleased.

Eggs, One day I got ten, next day two. Seems to be a work day then a day off for them. More daylight and some sun helping I am sure. Got a blonde chicken name of Marilyn Munroe that is slightly lame on her right hind leg. Been taking her out a dish of cat kibbles soaked in water for breakfast each day and seems to be improving. And if nothing else is getting spoiled and comes to me.

It has finally warmed up a bit -10 today with no wind, but cloudy with flurries forecast. The chickens are much happier. A stray cat showed up a week ago when it was below -40. It seems to be wild. It's using my old truck for shelter. I don't plan to keep it and suspect it will leave - probably a tom cat. I have been giving it some food once a day and I put a plastic kennel with a blanket in it outside so it can get off the ice and snow. No close neighbors have outdoor cats that I know of. If it had been tamer I would have been suspicious that someone dumped it out here. I planted a few more seeds and am really looking forward to spring. :)

Our old boy Muppet started out like that. Poor guy living in snowbanks so DH put a shelter out for him and some food. When our other chap dies Muppet just moved in! Don't think he moved off the sofa after that. He did have to make a sacrifice though LOL!

We still miss him. He was with us only 5 years but they were good ones!

Your Muppet is a very pretty cat. I tried to get a picture of the one here. It's black and white with yellow eyes. The coat is kind of medium length. It moved so the picture is blurred. I still think it is not a year old yet. It caught a partridge yesterday and ate it in the kennel. Nice mess. No wonder it didn't eat the cat food I put out.
