So here is a perfect example of some facebookers... apparantly this meme is controversial. And apparantly I condone child abuse by posting it. And a 20 year old had to instruct me that disciplining a child with "violence" teaches them to react to disagreements with rage and violence as adults.
This is why I did not have kids.

My parents only once disciplined me with "violence" a vague recollection was I created a fuss in public. One swipe on the butt and they NEVER had to do it again. I don't feel mentally harmed (others don't comment LOL).

I didnt wack my kids much. Bearhug til it settled down was mostly used. I also flicked their ears some times to get attention. My youngest says that hurt more than anything else. massive sharp quick pain that left no scars. Kind of what was desired.

i don't remember hitting my kids...definitely not with force or they would both be dead and i would be in jail...i did at least once lock myself in my room...gave myself an approx. 15 min timeout...I read this in a parenting book and i thought i would try it out...i distinctly remember them talking to me in a concerned voice outside the door...after i left my room i explained to them that i was losing my temper and i needed a time out and they were totally ok with this...
...it worked fine and i don't ever remember giving myself another timeout...
...my daughter is an angel...does everything i tell her to do...my son has a mind of his own...he does what he thinks is right and 4 year olds don't always make the best decisions...
on another note, spending my life with many pets taught me how to be a good mom... food, water, exercise, play, love
...

Also timeouts did NOT work for my kids...the only thing that worked was logic...if i explained why eg. they can't climb up the ladder to the top of the roof like mom...logically...it worked
