My rutabagas are runniing amok! Does anyone cook and then freeze them????

I just cut them up and blanched and froze and then cooked from frozen with potatoes and made mashed potato/rutabaga. Anyone have cabbage ideas other than saurkraut and coleslaw? And theres only so many cabbage rolls i can do... Lol

Sautee cabbage with onion bacon and white wine. Cook until soft add some cream and serve.

I use it in a Japanese Udon noodle recipe, and it works really well.

In the winter our chickens enjoy playing cabbage tetherball in the run.

@KimChick do you have one of those kneelers with the handles to get up? I always laughed at them until I blew my knee for the nth time. Now I always use it although the knee is fine now.

No, I just have the thick foam kneeling pad. If there was grass to sit on, that's what I'd be doing, like weeding the flower garden. I sit with one knee bent and one leg straight to do some stretching while weeding.

The cucumbers have gone absolutely out of control, when they finished with their support trellis, they headed over to been poles, they must just love this weather, whatever it is :)

one half of garlic bed harvested, nice medium size, this year in the downsize efforts, planted only 65 instead of 125 in one bed, so much easier to keep it weed free, was able to replant with Boston lettuce and Mesclun, see what happens

Exciting news! First I have a dull wretched life but we have butternuts hanging in the trees! No squirrels have shown up so Iguess that's not a good sign LOL.What do we do now?

hi Gill...been a while since i commented...but if you let the butternuts fall and collect I will definitely take them off your hands...any idea if they have the canker?
